I am hanging my head in shame...
I have always prided myself in being very difficult to pull a fast one on. My aversion to being conned in any way has sometimes forced me not to take chances, so therefore I am a fairly careful person. I am ashamed to say that I have had the wool pulled over my eyes big style!!!!!
It all started yesterday when I went to pick Ellie up from nursery. I have never been to her nursery before, so after the staff had confirmed my name I was taken to Ellie's class. Her teacher said that she had been a naughty girl and when I went into the class, she was trying to hide from me. I kept saying "come here Ellie," but she was just rooted to the spot.. I was beginning to feel like the staff were looking at me like I was some sort of paedophile or mad child abductor....
In the end I just said "bye bye then, you can stay here for the night." She came running over to me laughing, we got her coat and walked home. She chatted incessantly all of the way home. She was especially interested in the fact that Plantation St chippy was open. She told me that if we were to go to the chippy, it would be alright because her mummy takes her there all of the time (which I know darned well that she doesn't). I managed to avoid the chippy issue by telling her that I had no pennies.
When we got home, I asked her if she wanted some juice. She refused and said that she has 'Vimmy' (Vimto) after nursery. She showed me where the Vimto was kept, and I put some into her cup for her and we played for a little while until her mummy got home.
When Grego got home, she asked Ellie if she had had some juice. Ellie looked decidedly shifty and said no...............
I said that she does have some juice in her cup, she had told me that she has Vimmy when she comes home. Grego started laughing, aparrently Vimmy is for special occasions and the little tinker had conned me.
I had to laugh, being taken in by a three year old....... I know who she gets it from.... All I can say is that I'm glad I had no money on me, otherwise she might have got away with the chippy too....
