Could you?

well i dont know, i went to belgium last year and they had horse meat for sale everywhere, as i'm a horse lover and enjoy the odd ride ;) i definately couldnt eat horse meat, i suppose if dog meat or any other meat for that fact was put in a pie and i didnt know what it was then yes i would more than likely eat it
had a steak in the 70s in belgium and it was minging i asked the waiter who told me it was horse meat, its what we eat here, so ive tried it but wouldnt recommend it,its crap.;)

So if the first 'beef' steak you ate was crap you would never eat another?

You could have been serverd shin and be missing out on fillet for the rest of your life

It's just a cultural thing because we have dogs as pets. Funnily enough I had pet rabbits as a child but still think rabbit stew is tasty.

Course not, there's hardly any meat on it!

Previous quote from Wynonie: "I ate guinea pig in Peru and it was delicious!"

So how big do they grow those Peruvian guinea pigs Wynonie? Must be monsters eh?:D

Pour some tasty sauce over it a la dodgy chinese/indian and you would'nt know what was on your fork.Sauces hide a multitude of culinary nightmares.

my first job was a butcher i know my cuts,so ya dont know everything.:D

There's a special relationship between humans and dogs, in the Western world at least, so we find the thought of eating them abhorrant. I couldn't, knowingly, eat one having had pet dogs all my life. I can't eat rabbit either, though I don't have a problem with other people eating it. When my parents kept hens, when I was a child, I could never eat one of our own - too personal - but I eat chicken.

I've eaten horse in France and Belgium, not very happily but it tasted OK, and I like venison even though Walt Disney's Bambi made me cry. I've helped to rear a few lambs but lamb is my favourite meat and I like cows but I eat beef. The close relationship isn't there, not like with dogs.

I'm not squeamish, I've eaten snails (sorry, escargot, delicious with garlic butter), camel's gonads and I love oysters etc. but dog? No way. It'd be almost like eating a person.

Come to think of it, would you eat a rat (farm reared, not wild and diseased)? I wonder if it tastes like rabbit.

agree with that,i tend to try most things if the opp arrives, but am a bit cautious about paying over the odds for summat i may not like.

Yes, but at pool are you 'meating' the right people?:p

i have to chuckle at all the people who turn round and say noooooooooooooooo i wouldn't eat that no no no no no!
believe you me if you were hungry enough and a meal was offered you'd eat it and i doubt you'd even ask what it was!

I think your right there but would we eat it if just on the menu, I dont think many people would choose to.:)

So much is based on culture and what we're raised to eat. I grew up digging calms and quahogs then eating em raw right from the shell. Or never eating cottage cheese without alot of ketchup on it (this is not an American thing as I have never heard or seen of any other family doing this!)

Then there's the blackpudding and haggis I just had to try while over visiting. To me, that was pretty nasty tasting. Much rather have dog or guinea pig on the menu! (IMHO):D

I will have a go at pretty much anything;I had horse meat in France and it was nothing special. I have had rabbit but won't eat it now as we have one as a pet and I would not eat a guinea pig;we have one of them too and besides I would imagine they are pretty boney! I like black pudding;seafood etc but wasn't that keen on tripe !
