Today it is the Macmillan fund raising day at school.
The children of year 8 are allowed to go to school in 'mufti' on the payment of a quid.
There have been parents baking cakes, buns and tray bakes.
There have been donations of sweets and lollies.
Some of the teachers are putting themselves up for being bombarded with wet sponges...of course the children have to pay to aim a wet soapy sponge at those who teach them.
I offered to make 50 home made cards.
This offer was accepted.
So for the last three weeks I have been beavering away.
Stamping, fussy cutting, hand colouring images and then sticking them onto cards.
These cards are 'one offs'...there is nothing like them in the shops.
I like to tell myself that they are far prettier than what you can buy at Card Warehouse or WHSmiths.
When I offered to make 50, I really had the target of 100 in my head.
So, did I manage my target?
Well, yes, but no.
I took 95 cards into school yesterday morning.
That was when the staff wanted them to be submitted.
I felt like I had failed.
Missed the target...and by so little.
Anyway, this played on my mind so much that yesterday I assembled another seven cards.
I took these into school this morning...so Yes, I DID hit my target.
When I took the remainder in this morning, the receptionist said that there had been a lot of interest in the cards and that some teachers had
'Reserved' cards to buy today.
The school has said they will let me know how the fund raiser goes.
I hope they do really well.
