I had a wonderful evening last night. Mum and myself were invited to my godfather's weeks ago, when it was still warm to a barbie. Thankfully because it was freezing, it was changed to a sit down do inside.
The reason for last night was to meet my godfather's daughter's new man.
Sarah and I have always got on famously, even though there is six years between us. It's gone from her following me round as an adoring six year old on the beach, with a major crush on me, to a top mate, with whom I went to some fab clubs/raves when I lived in London. We had one major row once, something I can't write about, but which last night she admitted I was right about, but we got over it and are as tight as ever now. She worked really hard, and is now a criminal soliciter in Manchester, and her new man is a copper she met at work, most unprofessional! Hee hee.
My godfather is one of only two butchers left in Ossy, so the grub is always pretty good. We had seafood salad, chicken wellington with a mustard sauce, and a yummy cheese cake with poppy seeds.
I can't remember when the last time I went to a proper grown up sit down dinner party. There were just six of us and the wine flowed as well as the conversation. I'd timed my tablets well yesterday and I was on top form, and if I say so myself, was quite the wit. Mum left before midnight, I of course stayed there until I think after two. Sarah is the youngest of my godfather's daughters from his first marriage, the eldest of his son's from his second came in from a party with his girlfriend, and a jolly time was had by all, which I think included Sarah and myself giving a demonstration of how we used to dance at raves in the early 90's much to the amusement of her half brother.
Her new man is very nice. It hasn't been easy for them, as when they met he was in the process of splitting up from his wife. They made me promise that I would go and stay with Sarah soon, in the footballers wives village she lives in, for a weekend on the razz in Manchester soon, and I will do.
Today is going to be a recovery day. I did get up early for the papers, and Mum is on her way down with some shopping for me, so it looks like I will be having a late breakfast of bacon and eggs. I suppose at half one I should be a bit more realistic and call it brunch.
All in all a great weekend.
Lesley and I even had the pleasure of doing a little victorious jig at the football yesterday, when Stanley whipped Crawley 4-2.
