Strange question, but does anyone know how long a divorce takes normally from beginning to end?

I did it 22 years ago, the process took around eight months but freedom takes a lot longer.......

If you are going to do it, talk to each other and keep it clean.

am trying too and not fighting over anything but keeping it civil at times is difficult considering what i was put through

Mine took about six months, I think some of that was my ex deciding whether or not she wanted to sign the papers.

its been going on for about 7 months now, just seems to be taking a long time

I didnt oppose it or anything, just let get on with it, as far as I know there were no hiccups, I think the reason for doing it influences time as well, I told her to say I had been unfaithful, and I think that speeded it up.

Returned my "affidavit" to solicitors on friday so was just wondering how long its gonna take from now, im waiting to celebrate lol

As I said before, depends how quick they can get a court date, sometimes it can be a couple of months!!!

my advise to speed things up
do away with solicitors and do it yourself go to the lawcourts in oak st

Also, if you have been split up and living separate for 2 years or more that speeds it up. Thats what my Dad did with his second wife.

Not necessarily - I went for the two year separation but it still took 6 months after the two years were up for everything to be finalised.

When I got devorced in 1991 (the happiest day of my life:D) I had be seperated for about 26 months, we both agreed to the divorce, we both filled in the forms took them in to Oak Street and we got the decree nisi 6 weeks later and never went to court or anything, I think it cost us £65 each. Whether things have changed now I don't know?

My divorce is going through the solicitors on the grounds of adultery (not me might I add!!!) I got told by them it should take about 6 months from start to finish as he admitted it, signed confession etc etc but its been nearly 8 months now (I know he did "sit on" the papers for a good few weeks though) am hoping it wont take long now but just curious if anyone else had been in the same situation and had guestimates on how long from now, waiting for a party lol

never beeen married so havent a clue. all these people getting divorced, wonder how much was spent on the weddings:rolleyes:

I did my own divorce, it took 11 weeks from start to finish and cost us £75 each..:D

Solicitors will drag the process out and tell you that it is a complicated process. This is complete twaddle, the petition is as easy to fill out as a passport form and you just take it to the court and hand it in, they do the rest.

didnt even know about a "quikkie" divorce, just went to solicitors, thought that was my only option and i just wanted to get things started
