One day, when I pluck up the courage to empty the bottom of those wardrobes, I may well come up with much more than the Atari. I have a feeling Lord Lucan may have been in there at some time. :D
No he's hiding in the Burnley throphy room West Ender, hope Dave and GC dont see this:rolleyes:

It was known as Asda Queens Supermarket when I worked there.

When Broadway was a sunken garden, I used to sit with my mum and have an ice lollie from the cinema.
When the market was in Peel Street
The UCP Tripe shop on Blackburn Road
The New Era (when it first opened) and the dances
Holidays with the Youth Club (Austria)
Mods driving up and down Blackburn Road outside the Market hall
Sitting and listening to Radio Luxemburg on the bench at the bottom of Barnfield Street
Big Ben anyone know what that was??

'Big Ben' was the area around the back of the college on Sandy Lane was. Near the running track.

Just looking through an old magazine.Back to 1966. I was 18 at the time. No 1,record, Four Tops, Reach out, I'll be there. No 2, Stop, stop, stop. The Hollies. The Hollies walk out of a Ready, Steady, Go telerecording session after discovering that the Dave Clark Five are to top the bill. Alma Cogan dies from cancer. John Maus of the Walker Brothers describes Scott as moody, irresponsible and a pain in the neck. Denny Lane, leaves the Moody Blues. Mick Jagger arrives at a Pink Floyd Concert, with new girlfriend Marianne Faithfull, though he's supposedly living with Crissie Shrimpton,( some things never change ). Movies of that year, Bonnie & Clyde, Georgy Girl . same Year , Aberfan Disaster, and lastly. Johnny Kidd dies in a car crash. Hard to believe it was all over 40 yrs ago.

tony, the queens bingo was at the top of oswald st, church blackburn rd nr oaktree pub it used to be the tudor cinema then it was a nightclub (saw frank ifield there mm) the building is still there but is a snooker place now,

There were TWO Queens bingo halls - Church and Accrington - the Accrington one still operates (was owned by Skinner) - I was a regular at both until I overcame the addiction :D

I remember it, but it was run by Warburtons then . Used to smell lovely when you walked past in the morning.mmmmm

My gran used to send me there for bread and barms before school, and to Feathers butchers in the market hall, where I still buy my meat.
We used to get freshly ground coffee at Redmans, ( now Brighthouse) and also butter patted into a block and wrapped in greaseproof paper.

Yes! we had some fun down there, and also in Broad Oak works, there was a slab of pavement halfway up that used to get really hot in the winter, we used to meet there as well.
Fond memories of really good times

Freddy and the Dreamers came to the New Era.
Leaders were I think Mary, Jack and Sheila

Loved the dancing downstairs.
Played Netball for the club, went to Austria with them, that was great
