do you remember.....?

I remember when there used to be a toy shop on union rd!!
yes where the age concern is now(I think that is what it is called), nr the library:D

I remember "skating" on the Swanee in the days when we used to get snow and ice in Winter. Also picking cotton grass seeds which we were convinced was the same as the American stuff the mills made into cloth. I think that's why it was called the Swanee.

I always wondered how it ended up being called the Swannee, thank you.

I used to thing it looked like a picture in my children's bible, that had a painting of Moses in a basket amongst the bullrushes.:o

It was much more exciting before they landscaped it, and made a boring field.

do ya mean the old co-op was, where pet warehouse is nr or that building nr the golden cross?

can anybody tell me where the old snow city shop on union street was please my parents used to go there to do shopping and they was talking about it today

the co-op in ossy was called gateway when it first opened yes but it was built in the 80s only remember cause i used to walk past it on my way to primary school

the sunken gardens before they built the Arndale centre?
Remember the gardens well, they used to have chains with spikes on between small stone pillars, and a car park at the back, I think the Arndale was built in the late fifties, but if I'm wrong I'm sure some one will piont it out

When I started work at Ministry of Pensions and National Insurance, we were in an office in the building, over the shops, in the block next to the corner bank, looking straight down Broadway. I started there in 1959 - I think that the gardens were built on sometime between 1962 and when the office moved to Melbourne House in 1965.
