Dr. Grumpy/Nice.

Just back from my afternoon with the neurologist. It was the usual charade of waiting in a room full of oldies, shake rattlin' 'n' rollin'. Mum came with me, and I warned her not to go on the attack as soon as we went in to see the good doctor. We waited ages after my appointment, but such is life, and we didn't mind. It would have been more comfortable if we were all in the nude though, the windowless, overheated room was a bit of a trial.

I was half expecting to be told off for not following his drug plan to the letter, as well as having six weeks off drugs free. He's the kind of Doctor that doesn't take too kindly to questioning.

When it was our turn to see him he couldn't have been more different than when I last saw him in April. I thought he was going to hug me. He asked me how I'd been, and even gave me the opportunity to tell him for once. He was interested to hear about Aunt Ros having had Wilson's disease, and took my blood to be tested for it.

The long and short of it is that I am to increase my drugs, but he also gave me another drug to help me sleep. I felt encouraged by his attitude this time. He also told me in six months time, when I next see him, he wants me to start a new treatment that has just finished it's trials.

All in all a positive afternoon. Even Mum didn't tell him off, after he treated us like naughty children fof having the audacity to ask questions the second time I saw him.

P.S. I'm loosing it. I did this entry as a comment rather than an entry again. Thank goodness Harwood Red taught me to cut and paste.

I am glad he was much more approachable this time, there is nothing worse than seeing a doctor/specialist who isn't a people person.
Good luck with the new drugs you pill popper.

I know the consultant you are talking about.....my hubby saw him after his stroke......and despite me being in the profession he treated me in exactly the same way.......or I should say he tried to.......I was having none! You don't mess with a MESSER!.......he was as nice as pie after that. You have to have balls to deal with these consultants.......they think that THEY made God.

Glad it went well for you this time. I probably know the consultant you are talking about, but I don't have much to do with the medical unit. I can't stand Jekyll and Hyde characters, I prefer either consistently nice or just plain bad....Much easier to deal with.
