Drums

To maintain good relations with the residents would all supporters please refrain from cheering when Stanley score a goal because this would make more noise than any drum

To be fair, the drum is a pain. The constant thumping is enough to drive anyone insane. I personally would be pleased to see it banned and if I was a non-football supporting resident, I would prefer not to have my evenings and weekends ruined by this migraine inducing ear abuse.

I believe the club has acted responsibly in this matter, as the support of local residents will be essential for further development.

eeerm I have allways said I hate the drum.... The game was so bad at Kiddy on sat i was gonna pack the camera up and go stand wiht my mates.. but the drum put me off..

however its a football match and I know I have to put up with it.. I ahve the choice to stay as far away from it as I can... The people in the houses knew they where moving in next to a football ground.. so Allthough I have never been a fan of it (as i have stated on here before).. I wouldnt have tried to stop it.. thats the difference :)

im sure deisel said that he has a trumpet...maybe something to do over the summer for you frank....learn how to play the trumpet ;)

How about Trumpets, Bagpipes, Airhorns, etc. etc. etc.

I think airhorns are already banned.... Jimbo had to sneak his into many a game... Can hurt delicate eardrums by all accounts... Jimbos never did get replaced.... we dont even hear "****e for ****e" anymore.... Or my alltime faveroute when the opposition make a sub "Bring em all on!" .

Come back Jimbo.. the league needs you :)

But to be fair, this thing with bigger crowds, drums, etc is only a relatively recent development. When many residents bought their houses the attendance figures were in the low to mid hundreds. The club has grown a lot over the last 7-8 years and it now has to adapt to the environment.

Added to that, it isn't only the residents who have complained, but many paying punters have too. I make sure I stand as far away from it as possible, but I know of lots of people who have complained.

Perhaps we can all keep completly silent throughout the games. That should make the moaners happy.

Or perhaps you could use a rattle instead of a drum.......... unless you've thrown it out of the pram already? :D

The local residents did however accept that of course there will be crowd noise at football matches and they made it very clear that they had no problems with this.

That's good to know, we're still allowed to cheer and sing ;)

I'm afraid I'm probably in the "glad its banned" brigade. Unfortunately, its got to the stage where at home we have enough people to make a noise. The drum is played, no offence Matt, in a very unmusical manner & often drowns out some chants that are meant to be heard.

The drum served a purpose (& I went & got the thing!) but I think it'll be good to see how we do without it.

Matt can have some lessons (ala the Shots lads!) & we can use it away if allowed to annoy the home fans

Now, next season...... SING LOUDER!!!!!

we could have some bells like pompey and anoy all livingstone road with them! then they will bring back the drums! is there any instrument associated with accringrton or someat?? like jase said will could just sing , see how much noise we can make!! , but if we got a roof then that will make alot of noise and they wont take that down for residents.

its not about the shear amount of noise made just the repetitiveness of the big drum maybe franks would still be allowed if we cant keep in tune :)

Cheeky devil! You saying I can't hold a tune or summat!? :p

Not normally a fan of drums at footy games - but hell, we needed them at Kiddy last Saturday.

I think one of the Kiddy fans was playing the bongos.;)

So what the heck - we lost the game but our lot drummed and sang louder. So there.:p

Oops, just re-read it! Don't I feel a little daft :(

The club has spoken. Though I am not in favour of the ban, I believe our energy should now be put into being even louder and prouder then ever. We didn't have a drum in the Unibond did we? We'll carry on, and show the moaners that there is nothing wrong with showing our support for the greatest club in the world...
