E20 summit

So, the French and Germans are Tories for wanting tighter regulation of financial markets? But the British and Yanks who want less regulation are somehow more left wing?

Sometimes, Mancie, I worry about you...I really do.

no need to worry..I've made my outlook pretty clear on here many times.. anything that involves a tory agenda is a ball to bat... whack it over the line.. no worries from me.. simple and plain.

The usual gobbledegook. So, in other words, you've no argument because you're talking absolute rubbish!

Ok.. just for you Wynonie...I don't care what any Tory party do or are about to do..here, or anywhere else on this planet I oppose it... I am anti Tory.. end of.. now that should be plain enough even for an Accy Stan supporter!

looks like it's a line up from our Tory freinds in Europe against the economic policies of the UK and the USA.. the far right Tories from France and Germany are ganged up to oppose any sensible economic policies from the USA and the UK that could get out of this mess... now the Tory oppostion has been silent..why?.. i'd say because they have slagged off the European Union for so long that they have no say on the matter... and will have no say if they ever get in power.. they are the lepers of Europe and will drag this county into the abyss of renegade economic destruction.

You started this thread, Mancie, and the premise you put forward was that the split at G20 had been caused by our continental "friends" pursuing some sort of extreme Tory line, while we were going for a more "sensible economic policy" (which, I assume, in your eyes means a more left wing approach).

In fact, the opposite is true. France and Germany want tighter regulation of financial markets to curb the worst excesses of capitalism, whereas we want less regulation. In other words, Mancie, you've been proved completely and utterly wrong.

Now is that clear enough, even for a Blackburn-born, London-dwelling plastic Manc? :D

I am not sure that the colour of your rosette makes any difference in this caes. The leading politicians of the world have got together in order to sort out the whole mess but instead of getting round the table and finding a solution they do what politicians do best, fall out amongst themselves.

They are all from the same mould and our only hope is that Barack Obama can unite them long enough for them to thrash out a compromise. I am with the French and Germans on this as the whole mess appears to have been caused by the greedy financial sectors of the USA and the UK.

I am not too hopeful that this bunch can sort anything out, take their organisation of the meetings. Do they hold them in a fortified castle, of which we have many, where security would be very easy to control and demonstrators could easily be kept away? No, they hold the meetings in the middle of a busy city and disrupt the lives of many thousands of people.

I No, they hold the meetings in the middle of a busy city and disrupt the lives of many thousands of people.

I saw the cavalcades going past this morning about seven-ish, as I was walking down a road in Wapping called the Highway, which runs between the City and 'Docklands'. Cops were everywhere, blocking off side street entrances and exits, many with guns. They were coming through every 2 minutes - armoured Limo's, 4 X 4's full of close protection, people carriers for the plebs, and in some cases an ambulance following up behind. The organisation was supurb...something the Met, under the command of ex-Accy cop Sir Paul, can well be well proud of.

Until, that is, I came to the Texaco Garage, just opposite the Times Editorial offices and by a slight bend on the road. A perfect ambush position ( for those who know about these things). There sat on the wall, was a very swarthy looking indivdidual with a large canvas bag at his feet. Sticking out of this bag was about 2ft of pipe, 4" diameter. The nearest cop was some distance away.

"Bloody Hell", I thought, "It's the back end of an RPG!".......and the cops didn't appear to have spotted it! Just as I was working out what to do, the guy bent down to open the bag...this was getting hot, very hot.

I looked up, and lo and behold, there coming up the road was the French President and his entourage.

"Good Luck, mate", I whispered, and walked on.

This is a true story. Well, almost.

never thought i would say this,as i can't stand em, but as far as financial regulation, i'm wi the frogs n krauts.

I agree ... living as I do in a country that was smart enough to regulate its banks, and one, that as a result, has the strongest banking system in the world.

well the torys are in favour of the G20 deal, whats the betting they would NOT have if it hadn't been unanimous? cameron will not make the torys look pricks in front of all the world i say.

I don't think that regulating the banks is particularly smart, just basic common sense and the city investors who took risky gambles with volatile prices were bound to go the way of most gamblers, down.

The boys in suits have got all the money but where is it? :dummy:

Good news about the IMF being topped up, though. At least there'll be something there, when we go cap in hand to them!

very true.. the Tory party has been slagging off anything from the EU.. and yet they bow down and beg the Germans and French to come up with anything that could be an advantage to their policy of slashing spending on infrastucture and rebuilding.. they have nothing to offer this economy let alone the world.. the same old cut slash burn polocies they have again adopted is a road to more misery..history has shown the Tories would sell your ass and than their own to anyone if they could gain power.

Nothing is preventing people from agreeing with European countries. What I have issue with is being governed by Europe on issues we don't agree with.

They don't have to sell anything they're being given it on a plate by Incabability Brown and his little Darling:D

Don't know if you've noticed, Mancie, but the majority of ordinary people in this country are "slagging off" a lot of things that emanate from the EU. However, they are denied the opportunity to make their feelings known because your precious government have broken their promise to give us a referendum on the Lisbon Treaty/European Constitution (call it what you will...it amounts to the same). Call, that democracy, Mancie?

Take no notice of Mancie, Wynonie, he's a nice bloke really, in fact even though I'm a Torie, I kind of like the guy, its just that when he's had a lot of that falling down water, he goes off on one, think we'll have to have a breathalyzer installed on Accy Web, any chance mick:rolleyes::D
