Can anyone tell me what's the best thing for ear ache. My little boy has really suffered with the flight back into Manchester, and has bad ear ache in one ear.

Any suggestions?? :(

A boiled sweetie to suck in case he still has a pressure imbalance. Has teh benefit of making you look like a caring mummy too :D

How was teh hols?

a few drops of Olivie oil in his ear and a hot water bottle ,when going to bed. or go doctors with him for he my have a perforated eardrum.
even better than that get him up to the hospital

is it a good idea to put olive oil in if his ear drum may be perforated?

take him up accy vic... better safe than sorry

hey slinks i always used to get it,real bad:eek: put it down to pressure/altitude me doc said try holding yer sneck, close yer gob n blow till yer ears popped, it worked fer me, that was when flying obviously. possibly its same thing.

Just got back from doc's ..... It's a very bad ear infection. Said he could have had it on holiday, but flying could have made it worse due to the ears popping. Anyway Anti-biotics and Ibuprofen now, and he is feeling pain free again. Poor little thing, nowt worse than tooth ache and ear ache :(

Swmming Pools not cleaned properly can cause this............has he been swinning Slinks?

Yes, that is what I put it down to as well!! It was also very cold, not complaining, it was a welcome relief to dIve in the pool when the sun got too much!!
But I do think this is where he may have picked it up from.

Then the flying home has kicked it off big time!! The flight into Manchester was a bit rocky to say the least!! so plenty of ear popping.

Pleased you went to the docs. Slinky .. was going on too long for a reaction to aeroplane pressure. He will be Ok soon, I am sure.

Think Royboy earache from swimming pools is just summat to do with moisture getting trapped, there again, I am not a medic.

Glad to here you got it sorted slinks, I hate it when I hear kids are ill

Me too!! :( I just feel so helpless, I have never seen him cry so much!! poor bugger must have been in agony. When doctor looked he said " Blimey lad, I bet that is really hurting you " poor mite :(

He is sat here eating his ice lolly now, so the painkillers have kicked in :)

In my younger days in both the Far East and in the UK...........I was swimming training three times a day and picked up no end of infections...I made a point of fully drying out my ears but still it happened....even wore specially adapted ear plugs to no avail.
If there is an infection lurking in the pool...you will get it.

I have also heard that because the water is stagnant, there is more chance of ear infections. Also, you never know what you are swimming in!! everyone else's muck and germs!! But telling kids not to go into a pool on hols is out of the question ..... so must take the rough with the smooth I guess.

Just glad I got him into the docs today, when I first rang they said they had nothing til Monday!! That soon changed ;)

:oGLAD YOU WENT TO THE DOC'S WITH YOUR LITTLE BOY
AND HE WILL BE ON THE MEND SOON

I used to suffer exactly the same thing when landing. I always had bad pain, particularly in my right ear which has 60% hearing loss (cause unknown). Then I discovered Cashman's trick of holding nose, shutting mouth and blowing hard. I now sit there blowing away, ears a-poppin', and it doesn't hurt a bit.

It would if you had an ear infection like this child had.
