It was a day much like today.
Grey skies and teeming down with rain.
They say 'Happy the bride if the sun shines on her Wedding day'......to me it really didn't matter. There were no photo's to spoil......my suit didn't cost the earth.
I had borrowed a cream Pagoda umbrella....which was more for swank than practical.
How on earth can you swank when you are getting married on a Monday morning at Haslingden Register Office?
How can you swank when there are only going to be five people present......well not counting the Registrar?
Yes, well that was 44 years ago today.
On the morning that I got married I silently questioned myself...asking if I was doing the right thing(and also asking myself if I should be asking that question)........would we still be going strong in ten years time? It was anybody's guess.
Getting married was a serious thing to do.
I really felt like a girl, and a little girl at that.....not an adult.
How could I be making these grown up decisions, these grown up promises?
We have had our ups and downs....and there are times that I would cheerfully swap him for an empty pop bottle(many of those have been recent too)
I didn't buy him a card....for many years he didn't buy me one....and said that it didn't matter. So for the first time in 44 years I haven't bought a card......and guess what? He bought me one!
