can anyone settle a bet, please? i am working in bhubeneshwar , India, and at the airport the baggage claim belt is inscribed 'Fenner'.
I say the belt could have been made in Accy. ..colleagues say bull...t.
was there a company [60's] called fenners ...was it bottom of water st?

many rupees riding on this!!

Yes Fenners was at the bottom of Water Street before moving to Church. Is it not the belt fasteners that are marked "Fenners"? I worked at the Church factory for a few years but can't recall them making the belts just the fasteners.

Fenners enterance back then was the near bottom of water street, the red brick side of the building led from Water street, to avenue parade, along what was then Melbourne Street, which is now the little dual road bit along eastgate.:) tell em to get their rupees out mate ya have scooped.;)

The belts were probably made in Hull. There was a large factory there up to a few years ago. Then all the production went to India. I was a Maintenance fitter there for many years.
