Fireworks

Well thankfully its just gone quite round here now . awww my poor dog is under my pc desk and wont leave my side bless him ..

we did buy them when our childen were little but ive never liked them its safer and better to go and watch them at a organised display like witton park.

Well havent heard that many tonight - they stopped about 9pm ........ then 10 minutes ago had a couple of loud bangs could be crashes on the bypass but very much doubt it.........

Got one thorough the front door of my girlfriends house last night. Someone opened the front door and though it in. Luckily it stayed in the hallway. Could have been a lot worse as my 8month old son and 2dogs were in the front room. Police came out and said there was nothing they could do, fire brigade came out and gave us some fire safety advice and fitted a couple of smoke alarms. I dont think fireworks should be banned i just think you should have to attend a health and safety course first and have to produce proof you have attended it before you can buy fireworks.

It makes looking after pets very difficult.

That's true, the hens in Rhyddings Park have not layed an egg for days.

Talking of the animals the stupid Co-op didn't have any carrots this morning for the rabbits, they really enjoyed the 20p lettuce I gave them for breakfast though :D

Glad everyone is alright speedy... there are some real idiots out there and that is the only time fireworks are a problem...

oh yeah and when I set them off and it then falls over :o

It is now 6 days since bonfire night and every night since I have heard bangers. Tonight, there are fireworks of all sorts, including rockets, being let off at the entrance to the playing fields within yards of my front door
For goodness sake its time they were banned from use

Can hear them round here as well. In fact there were so many last night I was wondering if there was a wedding!!!

It was Diwali a couple of days ago so it's possible that you were hearing fireworks because of that.

I have never heard of that festival before , so had to Google
BBC - Religion & Ethics - Diwali
I thought that Hindus were a bit thin on the ground round these parts, (correct me if I'm wrong), since all local emphasis on integration is centred on Muslims.

Well I do know a few Sikhs in the area and they also celebrate Diwali. I'm just saying that we're all very quick to make the assumption that it's kids (and some of it possibly is) but equally it could possibly be a religious celebration.

This country is becoming so very multicultural - not a bad thing --but at this rate there is going to be some festival or other every week of the year!!!

Time to ban fireworks except for organised, council run, displays

the simple answer to all this is BAN the explosive ones, that way NO one faith, religion can bitch, cos it applies to ALL. but that would be too simple.

From my upstairs flat window which looks out all the way to Darwen tower I can see fireworks every night. It is time they were banned except for 5th Nov and New Years eve.

Having watched approximately £25,000 worth of fireworks the weekend before bonfire night me and the little'un curled up on BF night itself with a dvd and lots of sweets hehe
