Is it me or has anybody else notice that, with about 9 days to go to Bonfire Night, I haven't heard any fireworks being set of every night like usually happens, must be the credit crunch is striking the kids as well![]()

i've heard loads over here, have been in Darwen for the last 3 days and they where even setting them off during the day over there...go figure \....../
and yes , fireworks were going off all dayI was at a `DO` in Darwen on saturday, i`ve heard stories and the wife works there but did`nt expect it to be as bad as it was.......and yes , fireworks were going off all day

lol awful isnt it![]()

There haven't been any here but next week will be chaotic. As the 5th is on Wednesday, various firework-displayers will have their parties any time between this coming Saturday and 2 weeks later. The big "official" display, by the Round Table - at the rugby club, is on Saturday the 9th but a lot of householders around the village like to show off what big fireworks they've got and, as I said, they'll do it on any night they please, which means every night. Drives me up the wall.![]()

For heaven’s sake!
We get the same old boring rhetoric year after year at around this time.
Were none of your whingers kids? Did you not let off fireworks?
You didn’t think about dogs and cats then did you? Well its pay back time.
Live with it.
It comes as no surprise that the first “holier than thou denial” comes from you West Ender. It was expected.Well, yes, as a child I did think about cats and dogs, actually, even though I had a Cocker Spaniel with the "gun dog" trait in her character that made her impervious to bangers. I always had cats, too, and they were cosseted on November 5th. I used to let off fireworks on Bonfire Night, not the night before or the week after.
It's pretty obvious, from your post, that you were one of those kids who went around letting off bangers all the time they were on sale, just to annoy/frighten everyone else. I wouldn't boast about it if I were you.

Just because some people misuse fireworks they should be banned, should they? First of all that will put the sale of fireworks underground and thus unregulated and that will most likely lead to badly made fireworks being imported and causing much more mayhem.I wouldn't call it the same old boring rhetoric.....more like genuine concern and yes we do have it every year because it happens every year.
When the government see sense and ban the sale of fireworks to the general public we won't have these concerns.
When I was young my dad bought a box of standard fireworks on Nov 5th and we set them off that evening in the back yard. They were not bangers, they were more about the colours than the bangs....now I do the same with my children although too many people do not use them in this way.
There are some very irresponsible people out there who mis-use fireworks and serious incidents are happening every year. In my opinion it is about time they were stopped.
When some idiot shoves one through your letterbox and your flat sets on fire you may change your mind.![]()
