I have had a major food fest this week, to the point where I had to undo my belt and jeans whilst returning from Skipton yesterday. It all started on Friday, Sparks finished work early so we met up in town for lunch. We went to Church St chippy where neither of us has been for years. We ordered fish and chips and sat in the cafe at the back with a can of Dandelion and Burdoch each. I haven't had D&B since I was a kid and it was so good....
Sparks has been getting painful attacks of heartburn recently and has had them all week. He was so quiet on thursday night at the theatre that I thought he'd fallen asleep. Needless to say, the fish and chips did nothing to cure the pain and by Friday evening I was also feeling a tad uncomfy. We called in at the Stag and had a quick drink with Tealeaf and Chav. Staggers gave me some D&B flavoured vodka to try. I couldn't taste the vodka at all, but I can assure you that it was there.....
Yesterday we went to Skipton for the day. When we got there we found a little butchers shop that also sold really thick currant slices, so we bought one each. They were great!!! A mooch around the shops and market found me another christmas present, I have now bought 2 in total. Feeling smug, we went for a meal. I had homemade steak pie in a pub which came with a yorkshire pudding, peas, carrots, mash and gravy. It was a huge plateful and Sparks bravely tried to help me out with it, despite having his own meal to contend with. We couldn't finish both meals and were sat there like Mr Creosote. I had to undo the belt and the jeans on the way home....
Unfortunately for both of us, the vast amount of currants in the slices that we had eaten earlier, started doing unfortunate things to our digestive systems. We had to stop part of the way home (on Sainsbury's car park) in order to get out of the car and allow hurricaine backside to rip.... We went into the store and got 2 tubs of Ben and Jerry's for £4 on special offer and then wind propelled ourselves back to the car....
All in all, a pleasant day out despite the side effects. I feel sloth like today and will be going back to bed later in preparation for working tonight. At least the side effects have now passed......literally.
