Anyone know of any places that repair hair straighteners. Got a pair of GHDs and there's something wrong with the wire, don't know any thing about electrics so not even going there. Thanks

hiya, how old are they cos if they are under a year old, I think i have the number and they will replace them

Only come to see what GHD's were :D

Is the wire broken where it goes into the appliance?
Mrs H is always doing it with the hair dryer, just needs taking apart and the wire cutting back a bit and putting back in.
In our case its caused by her wrapping the wire too tightly round the dryer when shes putting it away, it kinks the wire and eventually breaks it

The GHDs are about 18months old. For about a week have had to twiddle the wire to get them to work (i know i should have stopped using them), this morning they sparked so won't use them now. It is the wire end that goes into the straighteners, but that part is moulded. If it was the plug there would be no problem.

Don't want to have to buy new ones with it been so close to Christmas, Jae.

Yeah, thats the problem we get, the wire is broken, its easily fixed, just open the appliance, remove the wire, strip it back beyond the bad part then re-wire it back in

Then you will struggle to get them repaired as you can't just shorten the wire. The end of the wire will be moulded into the bit that allows it to swivel.

£100+ for GHD's and when you look inside they are the same crap made rubbish as the rest. And yes I have been inside and repaired GHD's before anyone asks

is that you volenteering to fix sara's??:D

Out of curiosity what model are they?
I have a broken pair of ghd SS2 which I am trying to fix. They have wide plates and one of the arms has snapped. If I can find someone selling a broken pair on ebay ‘which they do’ I’ll let you have the wire from it if yours are the same as these.

:)

hiya sara

you will probably get away with sending them back for repair. let me know if you want the address

if they are a MK4 set then you have a 24month warrenty on them, if not i would buy a new set or some cheap ones till you can afford a new set

Just had a look at the model jackyalex and it's 3.1b. So no luck there.

Sounds like they're different ones Len, the plates aren't that wide.

Have found someone on the net, who charges £18. Got the name from a forum site, and he has had some decent reviews.

Thanks to everyone.
