Today was Harwood Red's birthday. Weeks ago she said that she had today off, and would I like to go out with her and our other friend. I of course jumped at the chance of a day of fun.
It was very strange having to jump in the shower, after I eventually managed to drag my sorry arse out of bed, when the alarm went off. I'm normally still in my dressing gown at the time they came to pick me up.
We went firstly to Botany Bay, were we had a good mooch round before finding a nice pub for lunch. After we had eaten we were supposed to make our way to an antiques and collectables place. The instructions we had been given were awful, and we could tell we were heading rather quickly towards Southport. In fact I'm sure I could smell the sea. Eventually we found the place. It was massive and I loved it.
The place had an old amusement arcade games room. You could change twenty pence pieces for pre-decimal pennies. The other two played games were you could win more money back, I settled for 'What the Butler Saw'. My arm was aching by the time I'd watched all the saucy Edwardian goings on, with winding the handle!
The cafe there was closed by the time we left. We were just enjoying a rather strong Polish Marlboro Light outside the car in the village carpark. Our friend decided to ask a couple who had drawn up next to us, if they knew were the Dog Inn was? I was on the floor behind another car as they explained to our straight faced chum that this village didn't have a Dog Inn. How we laughed. Dog Inn, dogging, he he, ha ha.
The journey back was spent in giggles. It may have been the Polish cigarettes, which smelled decidedly dopey, or just the fact that we had a great fun day out.
I hope Harwood Red enjoyed her birthday as much as I did.
