Gloop!

Last week I took out the dyson from under the stairs......planning to get Gizmo hairs off the best bit of Brussles(does anyone know why they call carpet that?).

I uncurled the cable and plugged the beast in.......I dragged it across the carpet in front of the fireplace and was horrified to find that it was leaving a wide black trail.......I wasn't taking muck off the carpet.......I was putting it ON. Not my original intention I can assure you.
I got down on my hands and knees to inspect the mucky trail. I turned the Dyson onto its back and checked the brushes.
They were full of Black Gunk....greasy black gunk at that.

Now, how had that got there?
I certainly hadn't vacuumed up anything vaguely suspicious.......I was still on my hands and knees when hubby came in from his pensioners shopping(that is, shopping for his old ladies and gents)
I asked him if he knew anything about the gloopy gunk trail that the cleaner(should be called 'dirtier') was leaving everywhere.
He told me that as I was the person to use the Dyson most, I should know what it was.
Well....I didn't and i have to say I am very suspicious. There is only me and him in the house and if I didn't vacuum up the gunk, then logically, it must have been him!

Besides he has a track record....I will explain.

Many years ago, I had one of those drag along Electrolux cleaners...a cyclinder model.
I took it upstairs to do the bedrooms and it was performing really badly.......I could have snorted more dust up, using just my nose than the machine was picking up.
Now this was strange because it was a very effective machine.
I thought I would investigate and put my hand over the cleaner head......there was absolutely no suction.
I had a brain wave..... there must be something blocking the hose.......so i connected it to the 'Blow' side of the cleaner and switched it on.......the damn machine coughed out a great lump of dark sticky gloop......all down the cream wall at the top of the stairs......I got some toilet paper to wipe it off, and spotted seeds in it!
It was raspberry jam....raspberry jam full of muck dust and cat hairs, but raspbery jam nevertheless.
On questioning himself it turned out that a full, unopened jar of jam had fallen out of the cupboard in the kitchen....himself thought it was a bright idea to vacuum it up...glass bits and all.
It took ages to clean the wall, and the hose of the cleaner had to be replaced.

So you can see why I am suspicious.
It took quite a while to clean the brushes on the Dyson, and as long again to clean the mucky stain off the carpet...and there was me muttering under my breath all the while....himself made himself scarce, which also makes me conclude that he was guilty.
What do you think?

the idea of him pensioner shopping made me laugh..... so THATS what you get from those age concern shops lol

sounds like a man thing to me (blame him, even if its not lol

Yes, me too( she says tapping the side of her nose).
emamum....he doesn't bring any of the pensioners home...thank goodness.....I have enough trouble with him.
(though they do say that there is an old sock for every old shoe.....I must be the old shoe:D)

Margaret, i know this may sound Gross but is there any chance the black gunk could have been a mangled slug? i know i get up some mornings and there is a slug trail in the 'hall' i havent a clue how the blighters get in or out cos ive never ever actually seen one in the house but their trails are always there

No Flashy, it was defininately black and oily......it took ages to remove it from the carpet and the bristles of the brush......and I used biological cleaner.......I actually(wicked thought) felt like using himselfs tooth brush and bio cleaner...but didn't:D....don't want to poison the old feller.
His pensioners would die of starvation if I did that!

hehee, next time anything like that happens make sure 'himself' gets down on his hands and knees and cleans it up 'himself' ;)

"anyway he would have made a terrible job of it."

They make a bad job of things so they don't have to do anything else...its a man thing.
