Is there any-one out there that pines with the same nostalgic feelings as I do for the way that accyweb used to be? It doesn't seem that long ago that people used to meet on here as friends & discuss (with a little bit of banter to & fro) the items that were of interest to this delicate community. Now, alas as time goes by I find myself longing for those salad days that stretched endlessly into humour & enjoying each others company, perhaps it's because I must be reaching the time in my life that I realise that we are not..........

OH ENOUGH OF THIS CRUD CAN WE PLEASE STOP TRYING TO SCORE POINTS OFF EACH OTHER & JUST ENJOY THE SITE!!!!!!!
:signthis:

Sounds like an excellent idea. It's too easy to let things get out of hand and I always tie myself in knots because I try to see everyone's point of view.

Well said it is SO easy to pick fault and name call.... I enjoy a good debate but there are limit's :)

Banter should be a giggle...... Not upsetting :(

I stand by that sentiment folks...I've found welcome, warmth and support here over the last two weeks and that continues to grow each day. Even after the low points and errors of judgement...People continue to offer their help and assistance, their warmth and time…

There’s little more you could ask of anyone in this life…..Again you all have my gratitude, even those that may not have quite taken to me……

Well said Less. Nobody disputes that people have differing opinions, but that doesn't excuse nastiness and below the belt personal attacks, which have quite rightly been deleted. Bring back the banter please.. :)

I suspect Less has bought some rose-tinted spectacles. I remember someone coming to work with an Accyweb T-shirt and I told him "I've looked at the site once or twice but all they talk about is jam butties". Another Accyweb member told me that only a few months ago one of the main talking points was..What sort of mobile have you got.
Despite the recent heated debates and mysterious overnight disappearances of threads and posts has Accyweb not progressed since the early days of butties and mobiles?

Well I think so.
We have 1256 members, and 2471 different threads.
Quite a lot more than two threads (mobile phones and jam butties) wouldnt you say.

It was either sugar butties or syrup butties to put us on till tea time, always came home from school starving. I dont eat sweet stuff any more, funny how things change as you get older.

We had syrup...but it give you sticky hands to go with the snotty sleves.

It depends how old janet.....I stopped smoking 16 months ago and have increased my sweet in put...Sports Mixtures. Black uns

Sarsaparilla pop in a earth jug at home or little bottles of Milk at school – then we had those funny Mobo shaped things – sometimes we got orange juice….Sorry Janet I’m back home 30 odd years ago…..

I am going to school up at Green Howarth, it weren’t that far from Miller Fold, but if you had little legs it seemed to be miles. Half way up on the bend was a little shop they sold Sports Mixtures from a brown cardboard box or you could have Fruit Salads. I always thought that the box made them special. Over road from the shop was the Red Lion, I can still smell the stale ale that use hang in the air each morning. Then on we went up to the school, we always use to stop and have a drink of stone cold water from the well that was built in to the wall opposite school house lane.

I remember a little old man the live on the row of cottages a side the Red Lion, he use to pass us walking back from the well with his pale of water.

One day my legs grew in to the right length to fit my mums old (by then) 1930s push bike. I only used it twice, My mate Ivor Lloyd borrowed it one day to go home from school, I think he was ill are something, anyway I walked up to his dads Farm up over top of Cross Edge. No one was there so I got my on my bike and set off.

I was going a fair crack when I notice the brakes weren’t working, faster and faster the bloody thing went and I couldn’t stop, I was laughing my head off and s****** myself at the same time, faster and faster…Then I saw a gap in the little retaining wall that held the bank back, about 25 yards just before you reach the pub. I aimed for it and shot up the little path that had developed over the years only to hit a big chunk of stone. Bang. It hurt, oh god it hurt, but I was still laughing when managed to stand up again. Memories eh...Sorry I couldn’t stop myself
