Have you ever been invited to a function, and you really didn't want to go?
You put no effort into dressing for the occasion....so, ok, you didn't go in your 'cleaning up' frock, but you didn't go in your best frock either.
You made yourself up and did your hair in such a lack lustre fashion.
Off you went. Determined not to enjoy yourself.
Yet when you got to the'do' the music, the food, the company and the wine swept you along in a tide of joyfulness.
You had a great time in spite of yourself...in fact, you were the last to leave.
Well, that is exactly how I felt when being prised from my bed yesterday morning.
I dragged my feet getting ready, I took no care in choosing what to wear, I didn't bother to put any lippy on.
On the bus to Manchester I sat by myself(he wanted a window seat, so did I).
I was a miserable baggage.
Yet, once we arrived in Manchester I was uplifted.
There was colour, there was music, there was a buzz about the place. An anticipation of good things.
We stood and listened to a guy playing rock and roll music and I couldn't help but tap my toes.
It was just what I needed, except I didn't know I needed it.
I have plans to go again during the week. Not to shop, or to spend, but to take pictures.
I enjoyed looking at the pics, and enjoyed messing about with them even more.
This year, I haven't had much time to indulge in the things that lift me, that give me pleasure....but this week I am going to make time.
