I'm a new member and thought I'd introduce myself and say hello. I moved to the Baxenden area from Blackburn eight years ago, I really enjoy living here and I love the sense of community I've found throughout the Hyndburn area. I've visited the Accyweb website quite a bit, I find the old photographs fascinating and comparing them to now.
I'm really looking forward to being part of the site - so hello everyone!:)

Welcome Anne. If I meet you, I'll buy you a malt whisky from the bottle labelled ( look out for it) 'The Singleton'.
Assuming that your name isn't linked to your (lack of) marital status, do you know that the name originates in a village in the Fylde, close to Poulton le Fylde?

Anne - I suggest you don't tell anyone that you're in the club. You could say that members of the site have given you one - a welcome that is.

Of Auchroisk, Banffshire in the land of the Jockeens, don't suppose you're one of them are you ? Welcome anyway, but if he's (Bob) offering malts tell him you want A Macallum 18. :)

Singleton is my maiden name, my dad's fond of the whisky you mentioned! And I believe my uncle traced the family tree a long time ago and got the family back to Singleton Hall - I've been through the village many times it's a lovely place. And whisky's one of my favourite alcoholic drinks so I might take you up on the offer!

I'm not good at this posting business, I've just posted my reply to you in answer to Dave in Germany - I'm a bit of a novice here!

Hello Anne, how is Baxenden these days? I was born at Baxenden Golf Club in 1945..I can't really remember it, as I was only about 1 year old when we left there to live in Church and then Crawshaw Street Accrington...
Welcome to this site..it is truly fantastic.. ! I have learnt so much and found old friends as well as making new ones.....lovely !!

Eh ! Do hope it wasn't on the fairway, you know how these greenkeepers can be. ;) Anne As Cashy says, don't worry none, we were all in the same place once, it'll get there just join in. :)

LOLOL no..in the clubhouse, (or golf house as it says on my birth cert) Mum & Dad were the Stewards...
