My brother has asked me to pose this question. My SIL has found an old diary belonging to her dad. One day in 1974 he wrote that he dropped my brother and SIL at the Toby Jug. My brother can't remember where this is but thinks it must have been in the area somewhere. Does anyone remember a pub in Hyndburn that used to be called The Toby Jug?
Thanks Sue

there was a pub called that on the road to St Augustines School wasnt there?

The Toby Jug is way out in the country, you get to it of the Grain road, turn right opposite the Grey Mare, think its the Tottington Road, its down that road about two miles or so

the toby jug is on the left hand side going on
the tottington road towards tottington and bolton area
it was a favourite place for bikers around the seventies
was an italian restaurant last i heard

The Toby Jug, in the Rossins area, was also a well known place to "end" a Treasure Hunt, which seemed to be popular then. After all the clues had been read, and the places discovered, they would finish the night off with perhaps pie and peas and a refreshing drink at The Toby Jug.

OMG i HAVENT HEARD OF THAT PLACE FOR YEARS. i REMEMBER GOING WHEN i WAS YOUNGER BUT WOULD NEVER HAVE REMEMBERED WHERE IT WAS..

NICE MEM. THANKS .

At one time there was a clay pigeon shoot behind the Toby every Sunday morning don't know whether its still going or not haven't been down that neck of the woods for many a year

It is on the left before getting to what used to be the orphanage at Edgworth ,when travelling from the Grane Road towards Bolton

I could be wrong on this but my hubby spent many hours in this pub and he is 98% certain it is just called the The Toby NOT The Toby Jug

I'm with Mr. MITZY, only ever known it as the Toby. Here's a couple of pics for you.

How old are you yerself, the first time I went to the Toby was when I was 18, 45 years ago and I'm nearly sure it was the Toby Jug in those days, although on the very odd occasion I have been known to be wrong:D
