Mum's been on holiday - she went in respite for two weeks to give me a break and also to give her a break from me! I called in on the Saturday after work the day she went in to sort her medication out and ended up going in on the Sunday and Monday as well. After that i didnt see her for the rest of the time. My sisters and brother went in to see her. She has to go into a home with an emi unit now because she has been diagnosed with dementia. EMI to the ones who dont know means elderly medical unit. One of my sisters went in to see her and mum decided she wanted to change the lounge she was sitting in and as she went past a shut door mum told my sister to open the door and when she asked her why mum said i just want to say hiya and sis opened the door and mum stuck her head round the door and said hiya and set the people who were in there off in there. The people who were in that lounge were all in the latter stages of alzheimers and dementia.
Anyway shes back home now and its all go again.
On Saturday i walked in at 6.15 after work and she didnt stop talking until she went to bed when the carer came at 8! She even didnt stop talking when she was eating her tea! Sunday she was up to her old tricks again. She told me she wanted her tea at 6pm on the dot not sooner and not later. She asked what we were having and i told her. Halfway through cooking she said i want scrambled eggs on toast and it has to be golden brown with proper butter on it not that gunk what i'd been giving her before she went into the home and what the home gave her! Anyway i told her that it was too late and we were having chicken and mash and veg but i'd make her scrambled eggs on toast on Monday! For 2 hours i had her complaining about the tea but she eat it! Anyway made her scrambled eggs on monday and she said they werent right - they werent proper eggs! She still cleared the plate though! I cant win can I? lol I was going out at quarter to eight and the carers come in at 8 and she was ok.
And what did i do all the time she was away - sleep! Ive been having trouble with some new medication and they made me tired and doped up all the time. They took me off them on monday and my gp is writing to the hospital so i can now drink again - in moderation that is! So last nite i had my first drink for 5 weeks and it didnt half feel strange! lol
