There is a wonderful smell drifting through the house......a buttery warm toffee sort of smell. I have just finished making a batch of Florentines.....I love these delicacies.....but I only indulge at Christmas time. I have made some for us and some to wrap in cellophane and give as gifts. I hope the recipients don't think I am being a cheap skate.....I like home made cookies, fudge, peanut brittle...that kind of thing. And there are some people on my present list who don't need anything that I can buy for them....so I hope they will appreciate my home cooked, hand dipped, dark chocolate Florentines.
Hubby pinched one while it was still slightly warm.....so it was chewy, but he said it was delicious. That is praise indeed.
Later on in the week i am going to do a batch of sausage savouries - these are like sausage rolls but with a difference.....I mix half sausage meat with half sage and onion stuffing.....I make puff pastry and make sausage rolls. They never last very long in our house. I am also going to make a very boozy trifle and a Lemon and Ginger cheesecake for Christmas Day lunch dessert......so Friday and Saturday I am going to be up to my eyes in cooking.
Watch out for the new year when I am bemoaning the fact that my trousers won't fasten.....at least you'll know why.

It's not being a cheapskate at all, I think gifts that you've made are so much more personal.

Hubby did well just to pinch one while they were still warm. I'd have tried to scoff the lot.:)

I won't think you're a cheapskate at all and Garinda obvioulsy doesn't... errr when will you be delivering them to us???? ;)
