I can't do it YET!

I have just done day nine of my thirty day Yoga challengs...although really I have done ten days of yoga.
I accidentally did day seven twice(and it was not an easy session either).

Today was not an easy session either, but there were a lot of poses that we have done in our group class so I felt quite at home...except this video teacher goes through the positions far faster than our real life teacher.....and tonight I had to pause the session to give myself a breather.
It takes us an hour to do what the video does in half an hour.....but I can live with that.

I still cannot do a forward fold so that my palms rest on the floor(my belly gets in the way).....nor can I do Downward Dog with my heels flat on the mat(I can see Cashy rolling his eyes as he reads this...muttering under his breath'what is the daft old bird bothering for...as long as she can get her hands in her pockets')

Yesterday, the video wanted me to do a Crow position...this is where you balance on your hands and lift both feet off the mat.
I watched, I did think about giving it a go, then I thought of how I would explain my injuries to the A&E doctor, so discretion won the day and I did a sedate Cat-Cow instead.

I remember reading a bit of advice.....it was about learning something new...and it went like this...'Be happy to be a learner, it takes time and effort to become good at something and even longer tobecome expert'

So bearing that in mind, I have to tell myself that there is time.
I can't do these things YET!
I have added a picture of the crow pose so that you can see that I am not being a lily livered softie

Well, they don't call me 'Persistent Pilkington' for nothing.

I believe that I can do anything I want to do...it is the wanting that motivates.....although if I never do get to the strength needed for the Crow pose, it will not be a disaster because along the way I will have tested myself with other things.

I remind myself that the girl in the videos is slim, lithe, half my age and has been doing yoga every day for almost 20 years.
I have not yet reached twenty weeks......and it is only the last 11days that I have done practice every day.

No Jen, not brave, nor daft either.
Brave would have been trying to do it.
Daft would have been thinking I COULD do it.

If I never manage it, it will not matter...as long as I keep doing the other exercises in the series.....and today will be day 11.
