i remember when.....

I can remember the fish man comming round on a horse and cart
and a mobile fruit and veg man every sat

Submarines in cornflake packets.

Remember too when vesta ready meals first came out. The contents of the sauce sachet used to chrystalise and people thought  i was glass.

Used to love the Chow Mein one with crispy noodles.

Do you remember those revolving wire stands that used to be in every newsagent's shop? They were packed with Amercian comics like Superman, Batman etc, which always seemed a bit more exotic than British comics with their ads for Charles Atlas, 3-foot animated models of Frankenstein etc. Further up the stand, there were monster books and Mad magazines, then at the top were those oh-so-intriguing magazines with titles like Stag and Blue Book. Trying to sneak a quick peek at them would earn you an instant reprimand from the shop owner!

i remember buying half a pound of garden peas then going to the odeon on sat morning, eating the peas then chewing the shells then just flinging them around when finished with them it's a wonder i never got chucked out. them were the days.

I used to have a paper round the last house on this round was a farm house
with apple trees and pear trees .
well big empty bag
what was i supposed to do i ask you
plenty of apples and pears and sometimes a belt round the ear if i wasent quick enough :D :D

2 pen and paper games for you do you remember squares and battle ships
and a tv program criss cross quiz  ???

Coal bunkers in the back yard.

what about when they used to drop the coal down the manhole thingy in front of your house into the cellar.
(if you had one that is)

Penny arrows bars,Traffic light lollys black jacks (4 for 1d)
blackcurrent lollys,mojos,1d chews,friut salads (4 for 1d)
what other sweets where there? :P

Spangles, cinder toffee.

remember the fruit gum adverts "don't forget the fruitgums mum"?

remember the revolving doors at accy library,we used to run around to see how fast we could spin them before being asked to leave.

It was safe to leave you door unlocked and let your kids out on their own knowing they would be safe

I remember Birtwells Ice cream sold from a n ice cream van pulled by a horse. The old guy used to shout..."ICE CREAM HERE!"...He always asked "Do you want blood?!" (raspberry sauce!) Best ice cream in the world too!!  [smiley=eat_arrow.gif]

Birtwells - went to Accy Grammar with his son, Ian. An Italian company wanted to buy the recipe off them, but they wouldn't sell it.

Jacksons - His son, Malcolm still delivers milk (although not with a horse and cart!)
