I don't know why I'm so tired today - maybe it's got something to do with the dismally cold weather. I feel like I've been fighting a bug too, although for now I'm winning the battle. But I have enjoyed catching up reading certain posts on Accy Web - very entertaining! Such wit and panache in the parry and thrust - I wouldn't dare to set foot in any of these threads, and yet I'm right there in my head saying "Go on, get 'em!" And just hearing on Margaret P's Blog about her chicken dishes has been very therapeutic. Chicken soup for the soul? Vicarious Victuals? I'm feeling better already!
Part of my funk is I have almost no stock left for the Christmas season after my last big sale. So after taking a week off to sort myself out, get the house back in order, and tackle the many little jobs that were pushed into the background, today I started making more ware.
I went over to my borrowed studio space after being gone for two weeks, and it was a disaster. The kind lady who lets me work there is a bit of a packrat. I swear she's part squirrel. She's involved in all kinds of causes and events, and needs a ton of stuff to make these all happen. This week, for example, she's hosting several Native Canadians in her home while they teach traditional crafts at our local art centre. I came in to work, only to find tobacco leaves drying all over the place! I half expected to find porcupine quills and deer hides, and maybe there is some of that under all of her stuff, who knows? But I can't complain - she's got a big heart, and is letting me work out of her home. I just had to tidy up a bit before I could start work.
Anyway, I made a start. Here's a pic of some of the bowls I threw. Nothing too big, but they take some hefting to get them into shape just the same. More to come tomorrow!
