Improving the bar

Oi!!! You two shove off will you!!!

We're trying to have a decent thread about getting people into the sports bar for a night out once a month, not bickering like muppets over an avatar!!

Thread hijacking is not acceptable!!!!

I think what macca is looking for is what people would like to see entertainment wise.

Karaoke

Artiste

Quiz

Bands

Specialist Evenings (ladies night/mens night etc.)

come on people look alive!!

At a footy club I was with,we used to have 'gambling' nights.Crown and Anchor was there but the main attraction was 'horse racing';A large board(say abit bigger than a ping pong table) was marked out as 6 lanes (like an athletics track) and 'jockeys' would move their model nags in response to the throw of the oversized dice. Horses for each race were named after people within the club -e.g." # 4 THE CHAIRMAN- by MACCA out OF WEDLOCK" and the club wag would commentate.Use 'funny money' and punters can redeem it at the end ,or have auctions. These were very popular and the club made several $$$ from the 'tote'.

A couple of ideas for you

Stars in their Eyes night

Karaoke Competition

Fancy Dress Theme nights, 50's 60's 70's etc

:D

How about a band night?
Nothing like Accy rockers though please!!
Decent bands approved by the new OSC committee after auditions.
Could even dissuade a lot of people into decent music away from town on a thursday.

Oi, wot's rong wiv stoodents?! :D

now we're getting somewhere!! keep em coming, all ideas can be used (and most will be) but the original ones will be looked into a bit more.

One thought is that the club holds about 200, £5 a do gives us £1000 to find an entertainer. If we got somebody for about £700 we should get a top quality act and £300 quid for the OSC, as well as a full bar. Jim Davidson? Bernard Manning, strippers (male and female - separate nights) etc.

Curry night?

Help me out folks, look at other supporters club sites and see what they up to, I've looked at a few and everybody seems to be active.

Just developing on my idea, how about a battle of the bands type night?

Obviously less Americanised, but it would be cheaper than finding just one entertainer as you get a few bands to play then give the winner a cash prize.

Could be a monthly thing & something very profitable.

What you've also got to take into account is the location.

i.e.

Crown Pub - Quiz on a Monday Night, Artist on Fri & Sat nights.

Hare & Hounds - Quiz on Thursday night, DJ on Friday. Artist alternate Saturdays.

Grey Horse - Quiz on Wednesday night.

Oaklea (from 15 Dec 06) - Quiz Tuesday night, DJ / Artist Friday & Saturday nights, alternate weeks (DJ / Artist after Xmas).

If you book the club bar, then why not make sure that it is for the night after a match. That way it can be announced before, during & after the home games (especially on the day of the function as a reminder).

Race nights always go down well, 50% of the bet takings going to the OSC & 50% to cover the cost.

If you want to get students to come along, then why not look at student bands. These are relatively cheap, because they are usually glad to have a venue to play in. Also they usually have a good following of family & friends.

Apologies to all re the spat . Will support any function in the future.

Will support any function in the future.[/quote]

That's the spirit fella, more supporters=more members=more functions=more revenue for the osc and asfc=more ground improvements and better players to the club=HAPPY DAYS!!!!!:D

Catch my drift...

nice one Raver.

Right back on thread. Has any consideration been given to a promo night (ie Guiness,WKD......).

cheap ale and fund raising too. macca what do you think???

when we have a new steward, we can work with them to ensure that we cover all angles. They can speak to the brewery/supplier and see what we can push. Sty George/St Patricks night at the Clubhouse are a must.

please don't besmirch my name. If was going to leave you a karma comment I'd be big enough to put my name on it, but as I don't use the karma system I'd just like you to push off!!!!

Leave this thread to its original purpose please

Curry night sounds interesting macca.
