Inappropriate headlines

I realise the newspapers have to report the news and sometimes that news is unpleasant. But I also think they have a responsibility to young readers. I had to spend a lot of time the other day explaining the front page of the Telegraph to my daughter who likes to read the paper.

Who else thinks that it was an inappropriate subject for the front page?

I think I know the one you're referring to here.

My son is 8 and reads the papers.

I've had to explain many a lurid headline that he's too young to know about really.

I don't think they realise that young children are reading them.

I had to ask Gayle in the middle of a game of Scrabble, what the healine was about.

Although we are a family forum, with members having to be over twelve years of age to join, haven't we had serious debates on here about the subject involved?

It was certainly discussed in the recent thread about photographs on Facebook.

they also deliver them , granted paper boys/girls arnt 8 years old but they are still children

mind you one mucky sod used to have his adult magazine tucked inbetween his daily express on my paper round lol

my fiend spotted it , i didnt want to look - honest guv

ya know somat considering how many people buy their kids 18 rated games to keep them quiet like gta4 etc i think the headlines of a local rag are the least of the problems

most young teenagers with a ps2 or xbox will have played gta3 where one of the missions is to sleep with a prostitute then kill her to get your money back

my ex partner was physically threatened whe she refused to sell a 18 rated game to a womans child, the woman was annoyed that she had to get off her fat arse and come into town to buy it for him

the majority of 18 rated games end up in childrens hands , just because an adult bought it dosnt mean the adult will be playing it, i witnessed loads of parents buying games for their children who would run and pick up an 18 game and pass it to mummy or daddy to buy for them

sorry for the thread wander but although soem kids are not exposed to things like this a lot are already familiar with sex, violence, foul language and drugs before they even leave the house because parents buy them games containing these elements

not saying its right whatteh telegraph printed on its front page but its merely a drop in teh ocean

Let's hope the children don't read all the ads in the back of the Telegraph for prostitutes.:(

are they in the jobs section under positions offered ?

I think there are many positions offered.

It must be a bit confusing if you're looking for a new telly and you see a coloured tv offering money back if satisfaction isn't achieved.

once saw an advert in a newsagents window in blackpool offering teh services of a convincing TV with pictures to show what was on offer

from teh size of teh bulge in the TV's thong it didnt look too convincing to me pmsl

it may have been a tuner knob for all i know

Mick intended to take the link out but put the text of the headline back in, but he forgot to do the latter. For those who haven't found out yet the headline was:

Lancashire Evening Telegraph said:
"'Upmarket' Blackburn bar stages 'Ibiza porn party'"

Sorry all hehe gave you something to moan about though:D:tongueout

Thought they'd barred those adds Rindi, I stopped getting the LT about 18 months ago, but the other week somebody brought a copy to show me a story which I'd missed on line, but there was no sign of sexy saddie in the jobs column, maybe she had become gamefully employed:rolleyes::D
