Insomnia

Now promise you won’t laugh but I have had terminal insomnia for the last 2 days. This is totally due to a slight mishap which I had the other night.
I was tired on Tuesday night and went to bed early, I settled down quickly and drifted off for the night, or, so I thought. At half past midnight I woke up in pain, it was excruciating, I couldn’t move my head and the pain was shooting up the back of my neck and down the back of my left shoulder. I think that I have somehow flipped over in my sleep and pulled a muscle. I was up for the rest of the night, I tried hot milk and a couple of Brufen but to no avail.
I went to work on a late shift and was walking around like Frankenstein’s monster for the duration of the shift. By the time I left work, I had had 2 more Brufen, 4 Paracetamol and 2 Buscopan which a colleague threw in for good measure. I don’t normally take pain killers and only had 2 Brufen for a fracture a few years ago. I felt spaced out because I was so tired and the painkillers never touched the pain. I ended up taking some time owing and getting home at 8pm last night. I got in the shower and let the warm water flow over my neck and then got into bed, worn out and ready for a good sleep before my early shift today.
Sleep did not come but pain did…… After 2 more Paracetamol and 2 more Brufen I finally bit the bullet at 4am and phoned work to tell them that I was going to the Urgent Care Centre. I don’t know how I have managed to drive there and back as it kills me to turn my head. After a diverting half hour in Urgent Care and a bit of a telling off for driving, I have come away with some new tablets.
They have given me Voltarol for a month and Valium for the next 2 days to get rid of the spasm. I have been told not to drive or work for the next 2 days whilst spaced out on the Valium.
I have had my fair share of ribbing and colleagues asking me if I’ve done a Lesley Ash!!!! I have assured everyone that it is not a sex sprain as Sparks is away. I reckon that if he’d been here I wouldn’t have had all the extra room in the bed to toss and turn in, so it probably wouldn’t have happened.
So, I’m off to dope myself up with the Valium and try to get some sleep.

Oh dear, doesn't sound nice
I hate losing sleep, nevermind gaining pain in it's place!
Hope all's better now with the new drugs

Ouch and double ouch, hope it eases soon, still have a lot of jip in my neck from my accident over a year ago...but at least its tolerable....

Just make sure you get the rest and sleep to allow time for your body to heal

sorry to hear about your pain having experienced the same thing a couple of times myself and as i drive for long distances as well i fully understand your dillema! all i can say is keep warm and eventually the pain will subside!
just try not to move your head too quickly or laugh as that really hurts!
the pain will settle in a week or two and try not to take too many pain killers!! good luck!!!
