Did anyone buy an iphone yesterday? if so have you been able to activate it? I bought one late last night, got home but when I phoned for the PAC code I needed the call centre was closed. Tried this morning and after an hour of trying to access itunes I finally got my PAC code (which I should have been given by the sales person ay 02 last night) but now I am waiting for 02 to activate my account, they say this could take another 24 hours. So much for yesterdays launch date, I have paid £269 for a phone that I can't access, can't even access itunes now because there is a back-log.

Why anyone would want to buy one of these i dont know. It is only a 2G phone so internet page loading will slower than you are expecting. You cant do things like IM on the net as you should be able to. The camera is terrible with only 2MP and there is no way to extend the memory for those with large music collections. Get a N95

I was looking at one today, not as good as i was expecting. And i agree N95 is a more well rounded phone.

should have a look at the HP smartphone. (think its called 514 voice messenger). not as publicised but hell of a lot cheaper and better lol

People like to be seen with the coolest gsdgets though even if that means they buy the ones that are not techically the best

Its the same with designer labels - attracts posers - ie. people who need their confidence boosting due to their lack of self worth

Firstly its actually 2.5G not 2G Aleks :D

secondly, its crap from a lot of other aspects.

No Picture mesaging.... err. thats rubbish nowadays
Slow Internet
No unlocking for even when your contract is up
No spare battery capability if it runs out(i.e. its sealed inside)
Teh screen scratches like mad
Text messaging is hard unless you have an 8 year olds sized fingers
it needs two hands to do owt ( I to hold teh other to use)
Internal memory is no where near enough for a fully fledged Media tool

I can go on...

Joanne, If I was you I'd take it back in the 14 day cool off and get an N95

SERIOUSLY!!!

apparently they are unlockable...... you have to download and install anysim through the safari web browser

So pretty much what ive already said.

apparently it is the same as the ipod touch but with a phone but since the ipod touch connects to the internet you should be able to make calls through skype (or another) once you have unlocked it to be able to install 3rd party apps... the ipod touch is much cheaper so would be a better buy....

Just got one, they're brilliant. The camera might be 2 MP but you really can't put everything down to MP, its far superior to my old 2MP phone. Not that I really use my phone camera anyway.

Internet, not gonna be using 2.5G. Not because its slower than 3G but because data rates cost a fortune if you're not on an unlimited data plan, and got £7.50 a month, I can do without. Wifi is fine, infact they have a free wifi in mcdonalds i've now noticed!

The battery is far far far better than an N95. The N95 might have a 5MP camera and cook you a full english breakfast in the morning while downloading the stock exchange, but by lunch its rendered useless without a charger!

All in all, the interface is great and I've never had a better internet browsing experience with a phone, or any handheld device. It is incredibly intuitive, and has a vast amount of applications including a perfectly good IM program (no idea what you're on about there aleks)

"and cook you a full english breakfast in the morning "
sounds like what I have spent a lifetime searching for

Heh Cyfr, you really have got the apple fanboy bug :D

so by your own admission

The phones crap
The data charges make it exhorbitant to run
Its not as fully featured as teh N95

Now to other failings

Ringtone volume is not up to spec of other phones,
No MMS
No video recording yet ( some guy is trying to hack a solution )

Did I mention no accelerometer (probably one of the most recent discoveries on the N95 and already subject to some cracking apps)

In fact lets cut to the chase, you've bought an interface with little substance. :D

No the camera isn't crap, I just don't use camera phones, in the same way I hardly ever used my cybershot camera phone :p

Data rates make ANY phone expensive. On the normal contract you get unlimited data but I chose not to go for that one as I don't want to pay that amount, since when I did have unlimited data when I had a N95 for a week, I didn't use it anywhere near enough to balance out the cost.

MMS - Personally never use, if you do then iphones not for you!
I never record videos, or if I do they're worthless ones that i've deleted the next day. :p

The iphone has an accelerometer! Has lots of games that use it too :]

Oh and ringing volume, well I can't comment as I had my old phone on silent 24/7

ps. Where are you on msn :p

I'm at work mate, no msn access here anymore ( lost use of teh wifi LAN)

I can and do use my ancient N80 for loads of browsing. Data is now becoming accessible with some operators offering decent amounts for ~£5 /month.

I've seen some of those videos BTW, You tube is full of them :D

OK, forgot about the accelerometer but can you control a remote control car with it :D (Yes, some geek has made his N95 do it)
