It's been a year!

It's actually been a whole year since I updated my blog. My summer has been quite amusing so far to say the least, though I have exams this week as I was ill during term time. I can't sleep right now and it's a bit of a pain. Especially as I have to go to work at 9. My exam is in the afternoon but I didn't see the point of taking the day off, it'd only give me time to worry and I don't want that, I'm anxious enough as it is.

I'm working 9-5 at the moment as a research intern in the Institute for Advanced Studies. The pay is pretty good and it's pay day on Thursday, so I'm really looking forward to paying off my bills (yes, really!) and going home for a night. I'm bringing my little sister up to Lancaster on Saturday and I'm really excited as none of my family have visited me here yet, so I'm looking forward to showing someone where I live and all the places I go to. Hopefully we'll have a really good time.

I've also worked on summer schools as usual. The other week I was working on the Young, Gifted and Talented summer school on the day AND night shifts (contracted 88hrs in total for the week!) and I've been asked to work again next year by the woman who organises the day ambassador work (I was actually working as a teaching assistant for law this year during the day, rather than as a student ambassador) so that is something to look forward to next summer. As well as my graduation, but I guess that goes without saying!

I've recently been playing a lot of backgammon with my friend Jeremy, who is the licensee for one of the college bars. He nearly always beats me but I am getting better! Sometimes I completely wipe the floor with him. I have to focus on my revision and work at the moment though so I haven't really been seeing him. I've played a few games online though to see what it's like playing against other people.

I'm currently writing an article for the student newspaper about life on campus during summer. It's quite amusing to say the least. I've been having a fun time just taking advantage of the peacefulness and the deserted spaces around campus. Sitting around in the middle of the floor just because I can.

And I've drank quite a bit of Guinness and Coca-Cola this summer. It gets me through the day. Can't really afford to drink in the bars so just drinking in my room by myself or with Jeremy. He always says I'm one of the more welcome guests to his flat because I'm so easy to please. I never accept food or tea or coffee. I hate being a burden on people like that.

Anyway, I just thought I'd update this since I haven't for absolutely ages! I've not actually got very much to say, but that might be down to the fact that it is 5am and I really should be asleep. Less than 12 hours til my exam. Less than 12 hours until it is over and done with! Then I have one on Thursday, then that is it. Relief!

My eyes feel heavy but I'm too anxious to actually sleep! I can see this being a very long day indeed.

Good luck with the exams Blazey hope you do well and will see you in the Railway again sometime

I will hopefully be in the Railway some point in the last weeks of September when I am home for what bit of my summer holidays I'll have left!
