Just some thoughts

Hello Peeps,

While sat over in Holland the other weekend at a rather pretty little woodland camp site (we've been plastic P'keys for a couple of years now, but this year we're saying goodbye to our part time big fat Gypo life style :D) the Dragon, Shrek & myself (Princess Fiona & the Shreklings couldn't make it) sat a while & passed our time by engaging in actions that somewhat reflected the rather pleasing quote by Lewis Carol "The time has come," Said the Walrus (that'll be me then :)) "to talk of many things: Of shoes and ships - and sealing wax - of cabbages and kings". Further to that, we put the World to rights over a few sherbets & a couple of "Wee sweety nippies".

The topics were vast & varied, even reminiscences of our shared past, the highs, lows & Oh she-ite ! We're for it nows, were duly covered, dissected, reconfigured or embarrassingly brought back out from the darkened cupboard we'd bundled them into after conveniently forgetting about them, given a damned good rattle (those skellys are really good for that) & there like the puddle of incrimination on the carpet by a rather shifty looking family pet, laid out for all to see ! :o Aren't Family & Friends ??? Just wonderful ?

My how we chuckled ! Cleared throats self consciously & pointed the digits of accusation in the direction of the felonious one, said pointed pinky would be trembling in indignation & righteous disbelief at such audacious temerity ! Accompanied by the spluttering howl "You told me you weren't there !" Or in defence "It wasn't just me ! He did it too !" the evenings entertainment was secured. :D Spanish Inquisition ! Pah ! Mere amateurs, piffling neophytes when compared to a Wifey with the bit between her teeth ! As to that traitorous "Mate", Shrek the smug ! Sitting there with that big chopsy grin ! But being the better man, I shrugged with the relevant contrition & the correct dollop of embarrassed chagrin & as a slightly more mollified Wifey headed off to recharge her glass, I turned towards Mr.Perfidious, raised the admonishing finger, & dejectedly shook my head in resignation at his betrayal !

The Scrote just grinned even more ! :D Eey, you've got to laugh, we did, only to get the third degree as to what was so funny from the Witchy one & here my redemption, I shopped the Shrek for something he'd done ! Revenge is sweet ! Oh the joy of seeing him squirm & now me with the chopsy grin, isn't life just great ? shortly thereafter the Wifey headed off to bed & left us to it muttering something about bluddy kids & as bad as each other ! Even the Grimlin' wandered off in disgust at being blamed for odious odours (even disowned by the Dog!) We grinned even more & topped up our glasses.

We never got round to the big questions such as "What's it all about ? I mean really, when you get right down to it !" or "Why are we here ?" If the conversation reaches this point you're at the level known in the parlance as "Drunk as a Monkey", English has been replaced by gibberish, the schmooze has turned to inane babble & there's more repetition than a Saturday night on the telly, it's time for bed, honestly, go with me on this one ! Practical & hungover experience has wupped my arse into this realization over many years, but as I've mentioned elsewhere, academia, not a strong point unfortunately.

So what can we take away from all this ? As we wend our way through life we'll have many acquaintances & associates, we'll have some friends & they'll come & go, like the tide washing up on the beach. They come a calling remain a while, then retreat to go wash up on some other distant shore, but in time they'll return & grace us with their touch once again. Amongst all this fleetingness & transience of the Human condition, on occasion a true Gem or several will be washed up on our shores & these we should gather & hold close due to their rarity, covet them & keep them safe, they really are that important. :) Especially when you get in lumber & they're standing sheepishly right along side you & each is blaming the other without rancour, now that's a friend & friendship ! ;) :D

Thanks for reading folks, always look for the up side & things will seem only half so bothersome ..... :couchplus

Snaps : Shrek & Dragon at the P'key Palace, Donkey & Shrek being contrite ;)

Never were truer words spoken........friends, some come for a season, some for a lifetime....they all change us by leaving something of themselves with us.......so even when they aren't with us, there is an essence of them in us.
Another Great blog son......don't leave it so long though next time.......I'm getting just a bit jaded with reading my own back copies......though some of them have made me smile.

Just a thought - is this metaphysics or is it philosophy?

Aye, reckon as how it's a fair reflection of our journey through life & Cashy I mentioned it to the Shrek, he just shook his head and mentioned something about impudence & parentage, yours apparently ! ;) :D :idunno:
