Wednesday 11th march .
We only got to know today that Daniel had to be on ward 12 at lunch time today........ was told
earlier in the week that a letter was on the way , so it was a mad dash to sort out accommodation
jet has provisionally booked the hospital accomodation for us in the nurses home on site won’t be
sure till we get there.

Thursday 12th march,
Well we set off with bags & stuff neatly packed in car at 9 30 am all of us very apprehensive going
into the unknown, & trying to be normal, Jet did very well i must say at the driving down there i
kept up a lot of chatter , just had 1 stop a loo call for me at motorway cafe , but thanks to tom tom
the sat nav we did very well we arrived 2 hrs after setting off 11-30am, but then we hit the snag ,
PARKING oh gosh were do we park? It was overflowing with cars vans & whatever , we found a
place great we thought ........but ? how the hell do we get dan down there when he can’t really walk
that far, right found a porter who told us x-ray just down there have wheel chairs, great, so off we
set, me & jet round this fencing because work was being done & could not use that pathway ,
we found x-ray put the £1 in & off we went with the wheel chair, then lo& behold right outside x-ray
& nearer to ward 12 was a parking space , off jet went to bring the car round whilst i manned the
space with the chair she had of course had to go the wrong way in a one way system the porter said
“quick get moved before you are seen” (nice man) so the car duly parked bags out dan in wheelchair
off we went in search of ward 12, we eventually got there gosh security is so tight but greatful for it
really we pressed the buzzer & waited for one set of doors to be opened, down another little
corridor to the door to the ward another buzzer to press then in we went .
we saw the ward clerk who took us to dan’s bed got him settled in bed & was told to go as it was
lunchtime & we are not allowed to stay there, dan looked panic striken that we had to leave him
bless. We told him “will be back at 1pm “ so off we went in search of porters lodge to find out if we
had got a room to sleep in was told to call back at 2-30pm, so went back to the day room & got a
brew & ate our sandwiches that we had brought with, the brews are free in there & allowed as

many as we want which is good , we went back at 12-55pm & was allowed straight back in (you
have to buzz each time to be let in ) dan was pleased to see us then it started, a nice young man
came & asked dan if he was in pain & he could have some liquid morphine , he was part of the pain
management team , think dan did have some , then a nurse came & took all his details , then
another came & did his blood pressure & presented him with ‘the bottle’ we need a sample ok dan
him with puzzeled look on face said ok will try, then a registrar came & delved deeper into how this
had come about he was very thourough as they are .
then it was 2-30pm i went to porters lodge to find out if we had a room ........phew yes we had,
great, asked him how we got there & i went back & told jet who was much relieved , dan then got
into him jim jams & it was getting near tea time & dan said “ i did that sample , but no one has
come for it” so we caught a nurse who took it away, we went off for our bags & tea .. found the
resturaunt & got some chips & had chicken & chips for our tea in our room, then went back to dan
& stayed with him til 9pm chucking out time.

We spoke to the ward management nurse ESTHER & asked her to explain to us what will happen
with the biopsy & why was dan there ........( he was in denial) & what mabe the outcome .. she was
fabulous explained every thing in detail ..........what would happen if it is benign ........dan will have
surgery the bad bone will be cut out & a titainium one will be placed there lots of physio after BUT
no contact sports ........oh dear dan was shocked he lives football & is attending sports college at
Blackburn college he cried ......oh gosh he is realising that his world is crumbling round him, he
becomes grumpy.
Hat is the outcome if its malignant? 6 months chemotherapy at Christies hospital then back down to
the royal in Birmingham for the surgery to remove the tumour & bad bone & a titainium bone put in.
Deep deep shock for dan .

i read your story with tears in my eyes ...i really feel for you.. i will pray with all my heart for you and your family..
