Lord knows...I DO try.
Over the lasr couple of months I have been trying to get my crafting stuff into some sort of order.
I am eternally grateful that you cannot see my craft room(well, back bedroom/computer room/craft room).....I would be totally ashamed for you to see the disorder in the place.
I wouldn't care, but after every craft session I clean away the mess...paper bits, backing to double sided tape, inks glues and wash my stamps and put them back in their cases or on their backing sheets.
I bought myself some robust expanding files to keep my cutting dies in.
All my cutting dies have magnetic sheets to keep them safe...stop them getting lost...and to stop Rufus from pinching them(he loves running around with delicate dies between his teeth).
I made a huge effort to mark these files with a brief outline of what was inside them.
It was only when doing this I realised just how many cutting dies I have(there must be thousands of them).
When I have been looking on e-bay and have seen the words'craft room clear out' I have thought...how could someone sell their dies?
it would be like selling your friends....but I am getting to the point where I am thinking(only thinking, mind) that perhaps I should grow a ruthless streak and re-home( I prefer that term) some of mine.
What brought me to this thought?
Well, I have been busily making Chrstmas cards....so I have had folder of Christmas dies and stamps out of their files....but yesterday the realisation dawned, that it was son in laws birthday soon(like today).
I had a brave idea in my head of the design I would like to make for him...something to do with music....he is a fan of sixties and seventies music.
I knew that somewhere in my stash I had a die cutter of a rock band.....I also knew that in the stamps I had a stamp for an old fashioned microphone...the ones that dance band singers crooned into.
I found the stamp in no time, but could I find the die cutter for the rock band....NO...I could not?
OK...maybe I should rethink the design(this thought was provoked by the sight of hundreds of dies spread across the duvet in our bedroom).
So I knew I had a die cutter for a tuxedo......the insert of this was a shirt front.
I could not find this die cutter either.
I racked my brains as to where they might be....I had that backroom upside down....I looked in all the possible places and then in the improbable places and lastly in the last place I would expect to find these cutters.
NO JOY.
So in the end I made what I considered to be a very mundane card....but zuzzed it up with a specially written personal verse.
I also made one from the children for their dad...A mug...with a special verse inside.
Anyway, son in law was very happy with the cards...and his present.
I came back to our house and started to clear my stuff away....what did I find?
Both of those pesky dies that eluded me yesterday...such is life eh!

See those cards here.
Post script....I have added a card that is something like the card I wanted to make....though the verse inside is for a much younger person.
