Malham.(North Yorkshire)

Len

Town Elder
Tackler
Well, I've had a weekend in Malham (Skipton, North Yorkshire).
I took my tent, stuck it on a campsite, did a bit of walking and had my meals at the Beck Hall café. Not to mention did my boozing in the hikers bar.
If any one is interested I have attached some photos.
Anyone else been to Malham?

Good pic's len. I'm sure that the first pic has the same rock climbers from when i was there a couple of years ago.

Good photos Len. The first one is Gordale Scar, if memory serves me well. I've climbed on there, a few years ago, in my yoof.
What is the Theakstons pub called in the centre of Malham, is it The Wheatsheaf? There is usually a spaceship parked up out back full of nasty little space-aliens waiting to abduct drinkers of Old Peculiar.

The first photo is of Gordale Scar; I too climbed it on Saturday on my 4hr walk.
Other pics are of and around the dry valley.
The photos with all the greenery where taken at Janet's Foss. Not to mention Malham Cove.
The two Pubs in Malham are called,
The Listers Arms and the Buck Inn / Hikers bar.

hi, len brings back a few memorys this does, i love the drystone walls, its a heck of a long time sinse i was up there, thanks for sharing these with us :alright:

hi all we had a great time but he forgot to say that we are a bit stiff if u know wot i mean, anyway i hope len isnt trying to sell his body to anyone(i got my shirt off) i wonder wot would happen if i had my shirt off eh? bye all

Len, whilst you were there did you go to Malham Cove? I read somewhere that peregrine falcons were nesting and the RSPB had set up a platform with long range viewing equipment, i.e telescopes, just wondered if it was worth going to have a look. I was going to go last weekend but went to the harness racing at Hellifield

Unfortunately we didn’t get round to walking up to the cove even though it was only a short walk from the camp site. At the time we decided to leave that one until Sunday morning, but as it was our poor legs were so stiff we opted to leave it until next time we visit, so sorry I can not help you there.
I remember last year I walk up to the cove and there were a group of people all stood around a telescope and at the time I didn’t have a clue what they were up too but now I know. Cheers.

On Saturday we set of about 12.30pm and walked to Janet’s Foss and up to Gordale Scar. We didn’t bother climbing the water fall as it looked a bit wet and slippery so we back tracked and moved on to Malham Tarn via the top side of Malham Cove. When we reached the Tarn we decided to walk around it.
We got back into Malham about 5.20pm, just in time to catch the beck Hall café still open because at this point we where very hungry. Hehe
I would recommend Malham as the place to go to anyone.
