Hi to all members
grew up in clayton-le-moors (mum still lives there)
family originally from Darwen - moved to Barnes street where my dad had a bakery (next to Jack thornton's barbers)
worked at the Dunkenhalgh as a young lad then at Brockhall Hospital - which is what has brought me to this site trying to track down Alan Gilmartin who I worked with as an apprentice chef (all those years ago) -
happy to 'chat' with anyone about those former days!

Hello and Welcome Martin as for Alan you've found him he's on here regularly

hi Martin, welcome to accyweb, there are quite a few threads on here about Brockhall, both my parents worked there and unfortunately my aunt and uncle too, hope you enjoy this site :D

Welcome/bienvenue .... Jack Thornton used to cut my hair:eek: ... I lived on Queen Street, no. 29, just around the corner, before moving to Rishton Rd. .... Bottom end all the way. Now I live at the bottom end of Lake Ontario.:D

that's a nice welcome -
thanks to you all
can't wait to get in touch with Al - we have a LOT of stuff to talk about which might also illuminate the history of the 60s in the area as we grew up, and in turn pass it on.
you are welcome to take a look at my personal profile - someone might recognise an affinity
have yourselves a great bank holiday even though the weather is up to the 'proverbial'

'ow do, Martin, and welcome. Although I've never met him, Al and myself have become good mates via Accyweb. He's got a great store of memories of 60's music, fashions and the scene around Accy and district back in the day. Would imagine he'll be along presently.

A PM's a personal message which you can send to Al (or anyone else on Accyweb).

I see your birthday's March 14th - join the club! :D

Welcome to Accyweb Martin.

Lived in Barnes Street myself from '64 >> '74. Don't remember the bakery, but knew Jack Thornton quite well.

what's a p.m. and the other acronym? - sorrry I've been away for a while
PM is an abbreviation for "personal message" .... click on "my profile" at the top of the page .... and in the left hand column of options you can click on "send message" or somthing like that (sorry, it's late and I'm a tad wasted) ... then you can send a personal message to Alan ... s'easy, even I can do it, and I'm Canadian.;)

Hi Martin......Welcome to Accyweb, if you're not sure how to do something, just stick it in a thread and some clever ass will tell you how :D
