There is a certain person in our house, who shall be nameless.....left the freezer door open just a crack on Saturday night after their ritual Saturday night Gin and Lemon.(or 3)
This person rose fairly early on sunday morning and spotted the error.
Alas, it was too late to save much of the contents...which were softening by the minute.
The cats did very well out of the mishap...they dined on pork chops and roasted skirt......I think their grins could be seen from outer space, so wide were they.
So, the same someone, thundered round the house in a foul mood......though not a word of reproach was uttered by the innocent partner.......who, on seeing the wasted food, just gave a gallic shrug and said 'Well, no-one died'....the foul mood lasted until bedtime, because it appeared that the freezer no longer worked. Advice was given, to turn the appliance off and let the motor cool completely and then switch it on again......this advice was deemed to be useless...and consequently wasn't followed....well, not until much much later.
The freezer was left turned off overnight.....there was nothing in it anyway. When turned back on this morning,it started without a problem
.
Sheepish grins all round....mood changed to conciliatory, freezer refilled......all well.
Note on the freezer door 'Shut the Bl**dy Door. I am not sure if it will be readable after a gin or three though.
Oh, yes, we could have claimed on the house insurance, but our excess is 75 quid so it wouldn't have been worth it.
