It seems according to a new 'latest survey' that more and more of us consider ourselves to be Middle Class. How can we Tell? Are we just fooling ourselves? Perhaps you consider you have moved up a notch or maybe down one, what do you think defines the Classes these days? Below are a couple of my theories:-

Lower class watch the telly all the time.
Middle Class watch Television, but only the BBC and only when there's a good documentary on.
Upper class Television? Whats Television?

Upper classes- Just like the working classes except with worse teeth.
Middle classes- Working class but with illusions of superiority.
Working classes- Anybody that actually works for a living.
Underclass-Anybody that doesn't work, inc. all pensioners, except for HRH Frau Elizabeta Mountbattenberg Windsor.

good post -

how about Classlessness - a state of mind?
or a social anthropologist - a state of colonial theft?
or commodity fetishism - a state of social relationship confused with their medium i.e TV

Upper Class – vulgarized
Middle Class – confused
Working Class - manufactured object

Upper Class - compulsive behaviours
Middle Class - personality disorders

Sound like one of the bosses at work when I asked if he was going to muck in.
"Can you see callouses on my hands they are as soft as a babies bum. The roughest thing they touch are the weights in the gym."

I suppose class might be of interest to some when it comes to conversations about ones social standing and to which class one considers oneself to be a part of, that is if you actually give a toss about such nonsence.

Personally I do not consider myself to be a member of any particular class and never have. (I suppose you could say I was classless!).

Quite frankly I would like to keep it that way!

I work for a living. I don't have a television. I occasionally gamble. Inheritance Tax is a worry.

I'm confused.

Working class – create the country’s wealth
Middle class – administer the working class
Upper class – Take the cream and pretend that they deserve it whilst making darned sure we don’t get any.
