If your buying a reconditioned/second hand phone for a child/teen please remember to check downloaded videos as well as the videos recorded by the mobile itself itself as i bought a phone this morning in town and found that its full of p*rn......

At least it will save you the hassle of downloading it yourself kitty :D

I wish.....its just a load of clips *CLIPS i said*:p ....ah well....

What can the shop do if i tell the guy in the shop? onlyme said compensation but i knocked him down to £20 anyway *go me* so couldn't really give me compensation could he?......i think he checked the phone cos the rest of it was empty just not downloaded files.....it is bad though. Its next to my bus stop so il pop in tomoz n tell him.

A shop owner is under no responsibility to check whats on a phone when he sells it, if he had sold it to a minor it would be a different story. But as a rule most phone shops do a full reset of phones to make sure there is nothing on it.

Not saying your wrong speedy, but how do you know that?I think thats a bad thing.Even if they dont sell it to a minor,it could be a present.

Actually they probably do have a legal responsibility to format the phone to remove any personal information that could be on it. I believe this is covered by the extended 1998 data protection act and several EU laws.

Not that these laws help at all, you cant exactly go down accy nick and get the rozzers to arrest them.

no but ya may just get a bob or two back if ya say you will tell people.:D

Whilst im popping in to tell him about the p*rn thought i might add that the papers love these kinda stories.....;)

Yeah they have a responsibility to remove any personal information ie contacts, messages but i didnt think downloaded videos would count as personal information. (Although i could be wrong).

It might depend if the videos on the phone are legal in this country. He could possible get done for supplying illegal pornography, which can be a very serious crime depending on what the video clips are.
