Money

Dorothy mentioned that the man in Sydney got money from Ma's estate, but that he exchanged this for the relationship he could have had with his sister(though I do not consider him to be related to me in any way anymore).

Money is a tool. It is there to make differences in life.
Ma never had much money...but she had enough for her needs....there was nothing at all that she desired.
In fact after my father died she had more money than she had ever had in her life before....but please don't think she was loaded.

This money allowed her to visit places in the world she would never have got to see....and she DID enjoy her travels.
Meeting people, seeing places she had read about, eating the lovely food that she had previously only seen on the pages of magazines and cookery books.
She made a few visits to Oz....and each one she thoroughly enjoyed.
She went on pensioners outings, coach trips just to take herself away from the house.

She told me that she would have given up all these things....given back every penny if she could have had her beloved Jimmy(my dad) back.

No amount of money could compensate her for this loss.
No travel to distant shores, however exotic, could wipe away her sadness and loss of the man who was her soulmate.

The people we have in our lives who love us, accept us(warts and all) even on our bad days are the true riches in life.

That man in Sydney got a lump of money from Ma's estate....but he does NOT have the richness of the memories that I made during the latter years of her life.
He will spend this money...probably on the pokies....and will have little to show for it.

But, he will have to wait a couple of months to get his hands on it as it was sent as a GBP sterling cheque and the bank over there will charge him to convert it and they will do lengthy checks to make sure the money has come from a 'clean' source.
Oh...what a shame....never mind.
