How is he supposed to raise the money to come back here if he isn't allowed to work and is being kept in a detention centre?

Willow I thought you had more sense than to ask daft questions . The Thai Govt. will demand his repatriation, two senior officers from the Lancashire police will have to travel out there , after taking four days rest in the sea-side resort of Phucket to get over jet -lag they will provide him with escort back in the event he goes a bit doolally on the plane (just for security reasons you understand ) , they, all three will then be seated in a more secure 'private' section of the British Airways plane , either business or first class to protect his civil rights and his privacy from the tabloid press.
Guess who have to pay for this .......the Lancashire taxpayer

think the best option then would be to leave him in Thai detention n let him find the money himself, thus saving taxpayers money, plus he will be in the jug, much longer out there than our holiday camps.

I think I read somewhere that , since there is no warrant for his arrest in this country, any cost to get him back to UK would be in the form of a REPAYABLE LOAN from the Foreign Office. (which is what happens when brits are stranded penniless abroad)
