Once Debs and I had hugged the life out of Vanessa, we headed off for the deferred brew.
We picked a table and I went and got the drinks.
Vanessa wanted something long and cold. She couldn't believe how warm it was. I told her it was summer after all.
Yes, she had quite forgotten that we can have warm summer days too.

I took the coffee for us, and a large glass of freshly squeezed juice, for Nessa back to the table.
We asked about the flight.....knowing that nessa is an anxious flyer I had visions of her biting her nails down to her elbows for most of the flight, but she said it had been fine.
Well, fine, apart from the orchestra of crying babies. didn't any of these mothers give their babies pacifiers(dummies) anymore?......see, Nessa has picked up some of the Oz expressions, but not the accent.
Nessa sang the praises of Etihad airlines...pronouncing them to be of an equal standard to Emirates.

We chatted for a good half an hour(that isn't very long for ladies though, is it?) before asking Nessa if she wanted to go to the car hire company and ask if she could pick up a car locally......and she could come back in the car with us. She thought about it for a moment and then said no...she felt Ok to drive.
So we left her dragging her large suitcase into the lift and heading for floor 13 where the rental car reception was..

We had a sunny and stress free drive back down the motorway, no hold ups, no jams just smooth travel back home.

When I arrived home, himself was out on his pensioner shopping expedition, but arrived back soon after me.
We went up to see ma and to report the safe arrival of the baby.....and told her that
Nessa and Harley(nessa's daughter....who flew into the Uk a few days earlier on an unrelated visit......I know, it's complicated) would be visiting for lunch with Ma, but not to worry about making anything as they were going to be bringing some fresh, hot fish and chips with proper mushy peas(hard to get proper mushy peas in Oz).

Nessa is here for three weeks, which I know will go by in a flash. She has lots of things on her agenda...some of which entail serious retail therapy...like visiting the church of Primark....she really misses B&M, and old and bargain.
She is probably going to load up on her favourite toiletries and shampoo...but this time she will not get them confiscated at the airport, this time they will be safely packed away in her hold luggage.

I honestly can't see there being much beer drinking or wine swilling, but there may be some very uproarious, laughter filled, lunches......or that is my hope.
I will keep you posted.
Well, if you want me to:)

oh how lovely for you to have your sister home for awhile, bet that will do "ma" a power of good, well happy trawling the shops with vanessa ..good luck enjoy mez x x

Will be lovely to hear how your sister views us now Margaret, and the changes she notes.
Seems there was a National Fish and Chip day last week.

Oh we do want to know what fun you're all going to have.

I've had a word with Father Time, and he's promised to make the next three weeks run 'a bit slow'.

Enjoy having each other for face-to-face company. x
