Mount carmel!.........fire

I have family who live on wordsworth road, they were waken at about 12 with the alarms and rang 999. Apparently the kids are off school because the firebrigade damaged the server when they extinguished the blaze and theyve lost all the kids contact info and are waiting for the off site back up from LCC Education offices in Preston.

Thats sounds so standard for the efficiency of the education authorities it's probably true

:thumbsdowNever happened when I was at school...:fire: closest we got to firemen in school were lessons on how to extinguish our ciggies lmao!!!!:nono8::signthis::D

Just spoke with my sister in law she sed that her friend who has children at the school rang the educationa and they said there sending letters to all the parents.

There bound to miss a few poor kids wholl turn up on monday and have no home to go back to.

Thing is the article in the Telegraph says it's unlikely the kids will go back until Monday 21st - thats the date they were due back anyway???
My youngest goes there and got to admit I thought he was trying to pull a fast one when he said they've got another week off cos of this fire, I mean it happened last Sunday, surely they've had time to sort it out as it was reported in the Telegraph as only a small fire in the staff room.

There is clearly excellent communication somewhere. Telegraph doesn't seem to know when they will go back, Observer says Friday and the school says ??????????????????? ( fill in as and when anybody officially finds out !!!! )

got letter from education definitely closed monday tuesday wednesday doesnt say anything about thursday when i think there on strike

And 2BR are still making announcements that they will go back on Friday. Presumably they are getting the information from the school who seem to be in denial that the teachers are on strike.

A strike is a withdrawl of labour. If the school announced it was closed Thursday the teachers could claim pay for that day on the basis that they did not have a choice whether to work or not.
