No, I don't plan to go anywhere, but tomorrow(or guess it might even be today -due to time difference) my baby sister(47) is moving house.
They have lived in their current house for 8 years......it was their first major purchase when they moved out to Oz....and they had to buy it outright. Neither of them had jobs at that point, so they could not get a mortgage.
Once they had bought the house they had very little available money to buy furniture......and bought only beds and fridge and cooker.......they had garden furniture (left by the previous owner of the house) to sit on.
Nessa said it seemed like an age before they were allowed onto Brisbane Docks to retrieve the stuff they had sent out in a container......and life became more comfortable once they were able to get some of their own stuff into the house.
Nessa is a nurse and she soon found work......her husband is a nurse too, but wanted to join the police force....so he got a job nursing and applied to join the Queensland Police......he worked on his fitness levels and worked while he trained as a policeman.
They made their little house lovely by putting in a patio, and having a pool installed(once they had some cash saved).
Whem Ma and I went out to visit them 5 years ago we spent many happy hours outside by the pool......it was Ma's favourite place to have her breakfast.
Now Nessa is on the move.......Peter, her husband has become the Beat Manager and so they are moving into a police house in Hemmant QLD....so they are going to rent out their little house in Wynnum......and Peter will be living the job......their new home is also the community Police Station.
It is at times like this that you value your family, because you would all muck in and get it done and sorted.......but the 12,000 or so miles between us mean that it is not possible.
I know they have lots of good friends, and I would guess that they are about to make even more friends with the move....so all I can really do is think about them and send them good wishes and positive vibes.
