My Day.

Daughter was off to uni today......had to be over at her house to get the tinlids ready for pre-school.
All was going very well, breakfast over with no drama......both of them washed, and Miss Bossy Drawers was dressed.......I was helping the tiddler with his socks when miss Bossy drawers stood in front of me demanding to have her shoes put on.....a job she can do for herself with little or no problems.
I told her to go and sit down and I would help her with her shoes once I had finished what i was doing.
The little Madam started banging her shoes together and at first was petulant, then became whiny, and finally when no response was achieved, started screaming.
I calmly stopped what I was doing and placed her firmly in the easy chair and told her not to move or utter a word........you would have thought I had chopped her legs off the way she cried, screamed and carried on.
I eventually got around to putting her shoes on, then came the hair combing battle.......she has naturally curly hair, which is very fine and sometimes is a little tangled in a morning........she didn't want her hair combing, but she looked like an explosion in a mattress factory. I couldn't send her off looking like that........I held her close to me and put the wide toothed comb through her hair......it wasn't a bit tangly but you should have heard the racket.......I'm sure it must have been the wake up call for all of Clayton......and all this from a delicate looking two year old.
I was quite glad to hand her over to hubby (who thinks she can do no wrong) when it was time for them to set off to school.

I went home for a restorative cup of tea, a slice of toasted fruit bread and a read of the papers.

I sat there reading the morning news but feeling a bit guilty, the bathroom needed a good going over........the little bit of sunshine this morning showed all the smeary streaks on the mirror and the shower enclosure......so I donned the yellow marigolds, made up a litre of boiling soda crystals and took my spray of biological washing liquid up there.
I have kept looking at the bathroom and thinking I would get around to cleaning it for the last week or so, but after not being well my energy levels have been at Zero....they aren't much better now, but I think it was will power that got me through.

Anyway a concerted effort had the place sparkling, the drains cleaned with the soda, the taps polished and shiny.......the mirror and the shower streak free and a joy to behold.....shame it won't stay that way for very long.

I also had a go at re-stacking the linen cupboard......that was in a mess too......things just shoved in and then the door hastily shut so that what had just been thrown in didn't land on the floor......so that is a lot tidier and there is more free space now.
Mutti phoned and asked me what I had been up to so I told her.
She said it sounded like I had the 'nesting' urge. I told her that if I lay a dozen eggs between now and Friday, I will give her six....they will be free range.
Ma said I had made her feel tired just talking about the work I had done.
She almost forgot to tell me that she was ringing to say she knew where we are going on our mystery jaunt.....The Isle of Wight!

I felt lifted.....I love that place, the hotel has a pool, a steam room and a sauna....so I am going to make full use of those facilities.....I know it will help my stiff shoulder.
The views from the hotel are beautiful too....you can see all the big ships coming up the western approaches into Southampton....especially impressive at night when the big liners are lit up like Christmas trees.
I was looking forward to our trip, because we always have a good laugh....but I am looking forward to it even more now i know where we will be going.

If its a mystery jaunt how come you know where you are going? :D

Have a nice time margaret, will look forward to the blog when you come back!!! :D

Jen, it is a mystery when you book, but two weeks befroe you go they let you know just where your mystery is.....otherwise you might get on the wrong coach and then it would be a disaster tour rather than a mystery.

Just a way of filling spaces on their coaches at this time of year.

Kids don't ya just love em!! :D

We went past the Isle of white when we were coming back from Bilbao into Portsmouth!! Lovely views.
