Next...what do you mean?

I did plan to leave it there......after all much of what we did on this trip was similar to other trips.....but with SUN and WARMTH.....yes we have had winter sun, but it doesn't warm your bones.

I somehow thought the summer trips might be a bit different....and they were....a bit.
This trip had more elderly folk and more of the (frankly) infirm.
There was one lovely lady who transferred to our coach at Lymm. She had to be man-handled(literally) to get her on board.
In fact three elderly gents nearly pulled their tripes out getting this lady's substantial frame into her seat on the coach....and in doing it exposed her midriff and her ample bosom.
The lady was most embarassed.....as was her hubby too.
She suffered from Ms and normally can walk a few step with assistance, but on this particular day, her legs were not responding to anything that her brain told them to do.

At one of the comfort stops i spoke to her hubby and told him of the trips that were wheelchair friendly....and those that were damned hard work.
In the end, they didn't come on any of the trips. They preferred to stay locally and spend their time getting the sun and sea air.
The chap walked along the sea front to Sandown. This is a good 45 minute walk.
He was beaten though when he got to sandown and saw the hill up to the town centre...it was just too much.....so he set off and walked back.
The walk did give him a nice tan.

When I read back my last entry, it sounded as though I was disgruntled with the holiday.
Nothing could be farther from the truth.
We had a lovely room, with a balcony......looking out over the western approaches. I felt sure that this time we would have a room at the back of the hotel.....overlooking the road.....but no.The excursion on the Tuesday lasted all day and we didn't get back to the hotel until almost 5pm......just time for the three S's, then dinner.
Wednesday, we had the day to ourselves.....though they tried to sell us a boat trip in the solent...they laughingly called it a cruise.
It went around the ships in the harbour at Portsmouth......and it didn't float my boat......now if they had said SHOPS at Portsmouth I might have worked up the interest and dipped into my purse for the £13........anyway Ma needed to have a morning to take her meds and be close to a loo.....frusemide means wee every ten minutes.
I had also planned to take her round the shops...and maybe a trip along the sea front......which as you know she declined.
We were only in Shanklin for 45 minutes when she wanted to come back to the hotel to be close to the lavvy.......which is why I spent time on the sea front and in the penny arcade.
Thursday would normally have been a trip over to Cowes. I am not keen on Cowes...there is nothing much there...unless you are the owner of a posh yacht.
Then it would have been a whizz through Ryde....no stop...no shops...just a whizz through. Then to Appley Manor for lunch...then on to Godshill to round off the day
