I had to chuckle last night when I heard some news...... My 4 year old nephew was being looked after by his grandad (my dad) yesterday when he shoved a bead up his nose. Unable to retrieve it, my dad had to take him to casualty. The doctor was also powerless to retrieve the offending foreign body resulting in my dad having to blow into my nephew's mouth hard in an attempt to dislodge the bead. It came out eventually and our Charlie is none the worse for wear....
It always puzzles me why kids do these things. I have been to see him tonight and he was laughing about the whole experience. When I asked him why he's done it, he replied "because it was shiny." It was so matter of fact...
That's the thing with kiddies toys which contain small parts. The warning on them recommends that they are for over 3 year olds but a child of 4 is just as likely to push a small part up his nose or swallow one..........
