I know, I didn't finish my story about Torquay......but Thursday was a free day, and apart from getting soaked to the skin, it was pretty mundane.
The journey back, I was dreading.
Knowing how Ma is as mad a a bulldog chewing a wasp......anyway, it wasn't as bad as I had thought it might be.
Ma slept for a few hours on the journey back......but it was still a ten hour haul.....too, too long.
Has it put ma off the long coach trips?
Well, What do you think?
Nicola is getting to the bum end of her degree course, and the work has been ceaseless.......she has burned a bit of midnight oil(but in the middle of the day)
She was transferring a large chunk of work she had done, from one computer to her laptop and the whole thing disappeared...off it went into the ether.(well, no, I'm sure that isn't true, but she could not find it after many searches of her system).
I went over one lunchtime and found her frantically trying to locate the chunk of work.......I told her to stop looking and redraft the work.........I told her that sometimes fate does things like this to make you examine what you have done and to make you critically appraise it.
She was sick to think that all her work was in vain.....but could see that wasting time looking for the piece was not the way forward.
I told her that I would go and pick up the tinlids from school and would give them tea at my house......generally just keep them out her hair for a few hours.
This would give her a good 4-6hours to get the work done......and she really had no option, as it was due to be presented for marking the following morning.
The tinlids were delighted to be coming to tea unexpectedly.......and having Cottage Pie(although they laugh because I tell them it is snottage pie, made with real snot....eewwwwww).
It was one of those fine sunny days we have had recently, so they were keen to get out and play on their bikes.......they rode round and round our backyard, seemingly getting faster and faster.......so it wasn't too long before Spindleshanks was off his bike and kissing the flagstones.......not hurt though......he got up smartly and kept on telling me 'I'm fine, absolutely fine, don't fuss'. This from a six year old!
I also promised that after tea we would look at the Bionicle website. He is mad keen on bionicles, so he was absolutely enthralled to watch bits of video and see the variety of figures that can be made up......he was pointing out which are his favourite ones, and which he was hoping to get next(he only has two so there is a very wide choice).
His grandad suggested that I look on e-bay to see if there were any there that he liked......so we had a good hour of oohs and aahs, and could he have this one? And what about that one too?
I told him that he would have to be extra good for his mum as she had lots and lots of work to get through.
I took them both back home about 6.30....they were both drooping by this time.
Nicola said that she had managed to do the work again and she felt that it was a better effort......time and her marks will tell.
Oh as for Ma, she was asking when we could go away again. I told her Easter, or the week after would be free for me.....no Uni, and no school.
Again, I suggested(not so gently) that she choose somewhere a bit closer.....not a ten hour coach journey.......So we are off again on Easter Sunday.
Where to? The Isle of Wight....Sandown.
I asked what had happened to the destinations closer to home? They were all booked up.
Still, this time we are going for 8 days, and so that will give ma a bit more time to recover from the journey down there....and we travel there and back on Sundays....so hopefully the traffic might just be a tad lighter(please God).
So I guess the answer to my earlier question is, not blogging likely.
